‘Shahs of Sunset’ Alum Mike Shouhed SUED For Brutal Assault and Battery of Ex-Girlfriend Paulina
In a legal saga unfolding in Los Angeles, Shahs of Sunset alum Mike Shouhed finds himself entangled in a lawsuit brought forth by his former fiancée, Paulina Ben-Cohen, over accusations of domestic violence dating back to 2022.
Court documents reveal the depth of Paulina’s allegations, as she pursues legal action against the 45-year-old reality TV personality for purported assault and battery, gender violence, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Detailing a harrowing episode on March 27, 2022, at her residence in the Los Angeles area, Paulina’s describes enduring what she terms as a “viciously, brutally, and repeatedly assaulted and battered” encounter with her former partner, both in a bedroom and her children’s playroom.
In her detailed account outlined in the lawsuit, Paulina recounted the distressing events that transpired after she had put her children to bed. Amidst a heated argument, tensions soared when Mike allegedly directed derogatory slurs towards her, including labeling her a “horrible mother” and a “f—ing whore.” Despite her plea for him to depart, Paulina asserts that Mike adamantly refused, prompting her to initiate the process of packing his belongings, urging him not to exacerbate the situation further.
According to the filed documents, Paulina alleges that the situation escalated dramatically when Mike purportedly resorted to physical aggression, forcefully seizing her hair and shoulder before violently hurling her to the ground as she endeavored to remove his clothing from a rack. The legal papers also incorporate screenshots from security footage purportedly capturing the unfolding altercation.
In her testimony, Paulina maintains that Mike’s assault persisted, recounting that he purportedly struck her in the face and attempted to suffocate her. Furthermore, she alleges that the former Bravo personality issued chilling threats, including a declaration that he possessed connections to a hitman who could eliminate her. The altercation, as detailed in the complaint, purportedly extended into the children’s playroom, intensifying the gravity of the situation.
“Nearly four minutes after [Mike] initiated his series of vicious and brutal attacks on plaintiff, this harrowing incident finally came to an end…” states the complaint. “After Shouhed went upstairs to retrieve one of his firearms, the police were called, came to the residence and arrested Shouhed.”
Paulina’s legal pursuit seeks unspecified damages and punitive measures, as outlined in the complaint.
Back in 2022, Mike made headlines with his arrest on charges of intimate partner violence following the incident, Mike was swiftly released on a $50,000 bond on the same day.
Court documents reveal that L.A. City Attorney Mike Feuer pursued a total of 14 criminal charges against the reality TV figure, including four counts of domestic battery, two counts of attempting to dissuade a victim from making a report, and six weapons charges. Mike maintained his innocence but accepted a plea deal in the case.
As per court documents, the charges against Mike have been dropped after he cut a deal with prosecutors in his case. In exchange for dropping the charges, Mike is required to take a gun safety course and perform community service. He’s expected to attend a two-year safety gun course but he won’t be allowed to own or possess a weapon. The documents revealed that the two parties agreed to drop the charges including domestic violence, battery, and unlawfully attempting to dissuade a witness, as long as Mike completed the program. The former Shahs Of Sunset star will be required to complete the course along with community service, anger management, and parenting classes.
Mike rose to prominence as an original cast member of Shahs of Sunset, a reality series that chronicled the lives of six Persian American friends navigating social dynamics, careers, and familial obligations in Beverly Hills. Premiering on Bravo in 2012, the show enjoyed a successful nine-season run.
