Phaedra Parks Planning to Run for Political Office Despite Shady & Alleged Criminal Dealings
Phaedra Parks has worn many hats during her years on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and fans are now hearing that a new career may be on her horizon.
Phaedra and Bravo’s recent collaboration, the cast trip to Washington D.C., provided a not-so-subtle blast of reality foreshadowing, from Bravo’s resident southern belle. Phaedra’s political pre-hustle at the 20th anniversary of the Million Man March, didn’t escape the notice of All About the Tea.
Bingo! Phaedra recently gave an interview, and dangled her southern-belle hat, over the political ring.

I think politicians heal the community through their efforts in the legislation to pass laws that can help the people. Politics definitely plays its role.”[/otw_shortcode_quote]
Viewers have seen the Atlanta attorney give legal guidance, train to be a mortician, and film an exercise DVD. Most recently, Parks has taken up the role of prison-widow and devoted single mom, while her husband, Apollo Nida, serves an eight year sentence, for fraud and identity theft.
The couple is in the midst of a divorce, which is expected to be finalized in a few months. GONE are the legal cases and funeral home aspirations—Parks has morphed into a political activist/preacher almost overnight, while sexing it up in bikinis and strutting her bare buttocks around, in front of Bravo cameras. Does Phaedra actually plan to launch a political career?
[otw_shortcode_quote border=”bordered” border_style=”bordered” color=”#3366ff”]”I’m sure I will,” Phaedra said, when asked if she would ever run for office. She noted her family’s political history, adding, “I’m very much so connected to politicians, and my own aunt was the first woman and person of color to be elected into politics in Hall County. So I come from a very political family,” she said.[/otw_shortcode_quote]
She tested the political waters on the show, during the Million Man March episode, where we witnessed Parks meet with Congresswoman Frederica Wilson (D-FL), and Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX). Wilson was recruited by Bravo to mentor Parks, supposedly guiding the reality star’s interest in kick-starting a mentoring program for African-American boys, in Georgia.
Jackson Lee has an extensive hit list of recorded public embarrassments, with racist rants, academic blunders, and shady strategies coloring her dubious, and often criticized political record. Phaedra refers to Rep Jackson Lee as “the cream of the crop of Congress,” during the episode.

Parks has her own reasons to be nervous, about opening her life up to public and political scrutiny. Aside from her embarrassing antics on reality TV, many believe that others have fallen, due her alleged criminal leadership. The book entitled Lies of a Housewife: Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil, by Angela Stanton, exposes Parks alleged role in a 2004 auto theft ring, as well as an insurance fraud scam.
Parks escaped alleged culpability, while Nida and Stanton took the fall. A political career would open up a whole new realm of sketchy opportunities for Parks, with taxpayer dollar stewardship and the power to influence, landing in her questionable hands.
Then there’s Phaedra‘s former friend and business associate, Jessica Voker, who went public with her story in 2013, accusing Parks of having an affair with her ex-husband, Varney Voker. Voker spilled the tea behind Phaedra’s alleged criminal connections to the Vokers and their reported links to the “Gangster Disciples,” a violent street gang.
“Jessica Voker first met Varney Voker through Phaedra when she was a hooker turning tricks, working for Phaedra. Phaedra was Varney Voker’s lawyer, business partner and lover … and she [Phaedra] taught him [Varney] the mortgage fraud game.”
“Jessica Voker told the feds about their entire drug and mortgage fraud operation after she was arrested herself in Atlanta. She got Phaedra and Varney … his twin brother, Varmah as well as many other Gangster Disciples … indicted. She then flew out to Vegas under Phaedra’s and the Feds’ direction, wearing a wire to seal the deal. Later, the Feds told Jessica that Phaedra had been sleeping with her husband the entire time … so she began to implicate Phaedra in all of the crimes too!”
“After being indicted, Phaedra convinced him [Varney] to turn informant in order to protect herself. Every client Phaedra has she convinces to cooperate so that she can save herself from being discovered as the real mastermind behind all the crimes!”

Phaedra’s crooked reputation taints her motives, supposed goals, and character. In the relatively tame world of reality glitz, Parks dodges answering tough questions, and leans on her southern belle rhetoric, to divert and deflect. No wonder Phaedra is attracted to politics—her skills could be used to grease palms, exchange favors, and double-talk her way though issues.
Watch out Atlanta! Phaedra Parks may be landing on a ballot near you!
