Whoopi Goldberg Calls Joy Behar A Skinny B*tch During On-Air Exchange
Friday’s episode of The View came as a shock to viewers when Whoopi Goldberg engaged in an interesting exchange with her cohost, Joy Behar.
The panel discussed fashion and weight, agreeing that fashion is about expression. Alyssa Farrah Griffin jokingly interjected, “By the way, Joy keeps stealing things from my closet, too, so if you see us wearing the same thing that’s why.”
Whoopi snapped, “Well, Joy’s just trying to show off that she can wear the same things as you.” Joy smiled and said, “Every time someone calls me a skinny b*tch I say ‘thank you’ now,” as she laughed. As the conversation continued, Whoopi exclaimed, “So skinny b*tch, you look good!”
Not all of Whoopi’s costars appreciate her comments as Joy did. Earlier this week, the panel discussed whether people’s partners should wear their wedding rings at work or while working out. Sunny did not appreciate Whoopi and Sara Haines mocking her “weird” requirement. The co-host shared that she makes her husband, Emmanuel, who’s a surgeon, wear his wedding ring outside his hospital scrubs so everyone knows he’s off the market.
Sunny explained, “Manny’s excuse early on was that, as a surgeon, he had to scrub in every day. So he had to take off [the ring], and then he’d walk around the hospital all day with no ring … with the nurses.” She continued, “So now he ties it to his scrubs so they can see it hanging.”
Sara asked her co-host, “Why do you have it hanging there? Why not get him to wear a necklace?” Sunny replied, “It’s the only place … I would prefer the necklace. The only thing he can do is that. I told him it would just make me more comfortable. I like it like that.”
Whoopi pushed the discussion further, asking Sunny about Emmanuel’s scrub-in process and if the ring gets sanitized. Sunny shot a death glare at Whoopi and Sara before clarifying that her hubby scrubs up before tying the ring to his waist.
Prior to the exchange, Whoopi and Sunny had another difference in opinions. Last week, Sunny dished about catching her son Gabriel, 20, on a date with an older woman. She said, “I said, ‘Sis, you know he’s 20, right?’ She had to be in her 30s! I’m like, ‘Sis, and he just turned 20.’ Then she disappeared!” Whoopi interjected, insisting her cohost back off of her son.
“Leave that man alone!” Whoopi exclaimed. “Leave your son alone. Leave him alone. You are just going to roll her in closer. Trust me.”
“No. Oh no,” Sunny clapped back. “Some 40-year-old woman that wants a 20-year-old stupid kid like mine got a lot of issues.”
Last month, Whoopi got a taste of her own medicine when an a-list guest fired back at a comment she made. As reported, legendary singer, Patti LaBelle, was a guest and got into it with Whoopi after one of the cohosts asked Patti if she ever had to cook for any difficult people.
Patti pointed to Whoopi and said, “I got someone who never ate anything green to eat kale. On my cooking show, Whoopi ate kale for the first time in her life!”
Whoopi responded with a look of disgust on her face, “And the last time!”
Patti added, “But she tried it!”
Whoopi interrupted and called out the singer for getting people to do things they don’t want to do. “But I tried it. Patti is good for getting you to try stuff that you don’t want to try,” Whoopi said.
“I don’t like anything. My list is very small. Nothing green,” she continued. Patti then snapped back at her long-time friend, “She likes green money!” which sent the entire panel of co-hosts and the audience into laughter.
