Kathryn Dennis Hit and Run
As reported in October 2023, The former Southern Charm star’s 2022 Ford Bronco zipped past Whitesville Elementary School in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, ignoring the traffic cop’s stop sign before striking the school crossing guard. The 40-year-old deputy sheriff’s hand was broken during the hit-and-run incident, which occurred around 7:30 am.
According to a report by Radar Online, police officers meticulously documented the scene of Kathryn recent incident by taking multiple photos of her SUV and the surrounding area, including tire marks on the dirt. The photos revealed that the exterior driver’s side rearview mirror of Kathryn’s vehicle was missing a cover. Additionally, police notes indicated that officers followed the former reality star to take photos of her license plates, suggesting a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
The victim, later identified as Michelle Ward, described the hit-and-run in a follow-up phone interview with the outlet.
“You got a vehicle coming at you that, the speed limit over there is 35 (mph), but you can tell this person is not doing 35 and getting hit – that hurts,” she explained.
Kathryn Dennis Drug Abuse
Court documents revealed that Kathryn abuses drugs, alcohol, and suffers from a multitude of mental health disorders. She’s “addicted to prescription medications, marijuana, alcohol, shopping and sex.”
Kathryn has grappled with substance abuse issues for many years, which have significantly impacted her personal life, particularly concerning the custody of her children. In 2016, Kathryn lost custody of her children with ex, Thomas Ravenel, after she tested positive for marijuana and subsequently entered rehab.
Kathryn’s drug use, negligent parenting and a series of reckless actions that placed her minor children in danger were the main reasons that the former Southern Charm star lost custody.
Back in 2020, while the couple’s then 4-year-old, son, Saint, was in the mother’s care for a visit — a neighbor witnessed the child wandering in traffic. The first time, the neighbor escorted the child back to his mother’s home but after it happened a second time (in the same day), the bystander called the police.
Thomas Ravenel Wins Full Custody
As exclusively reported, Thomas Ravenel was awarded sole custody of his two children with Kathryn concluding a prolonged custody battle. The decision was finalized on January 17, 2023, by Judge Daniel E. Martin, Jr. In a discussion with AllAboutTheTea.com, Thomas Ravenel expressed his relief and gratitude following the ruling.
“I was awarded sole custody,” Ravenel told AllAboutTheTea.com. “I make all the parenting decisions. Kathryn [Dennis] has the right to supervised visitation by an approved supervisor [approved by the court] between the hours of 9:00 am — 7:00 pm, every other weekend.”
Thomas further elaborated on the specifics of the custody arrangement, including that Kathryn is not permitted overnight visits and he will facilitate the transportation of the children to a halfway point for visitations. He resides in Aiken while Kathryn lives over two hours away in Charleston. Reflecting on the outcome,
Thomas shared, “I am beyond grateful for the outcome of this custody battle and for being granted sole custody of my children. Family is the most important thing in my life, and I will do everything in my power to ensure that my kids have a happy and stable future. This has been a challenging journey, but with the support of my loved ones and legal team, justice prevailed.”
Under South Carolina law, sole custody grants Thomas the exclusive right and responsibility to make major decisions concerning their children.
Kathryn Dennis Elder Abuse Allegations
As reported, Kathryn is embroiled in allegations of elder abuse involving her father, Luke Dennis, with claims surfacing about financial exploitation and fear-inducing behavior. Since her eviction and departure from the reality show, Kathryn has resided with her father at the run-down Lewisfield Plantation in Moncks Corner.
According to a family insider speaking to AllAboutTheTea.com, Kathryn has been coercing money from her father, who is on a fixed income, by threatening him and using the funds to purchase drugs. This has reportedly left her father fearful and eager for her to move out.
The severity of the situation has prompted Kathryn’s brother, Luke Dennis Jr., and her father’s girlfriend to consider involving law enforcement due to the distress it is causing the elderly man. The family’s turmoil is compounded by the backdrop of Kathryn’s mother’s death in May 2020; Allison Dennis had juggled her roles as a bookkeeper and housekeeper while battling cancer and taking care of Kathryn’s children. Sources indicate that even during Allison’s illness, Kathryn would often leave her children with her sick mother for extended periods. This ongoing family drama highlights a stark decline in Kathryn’s circumstances, marked by her exit from television, multiple evictions, and losing custody of her children.
