The View’s Studio Audience Forced to Only Cheer for Whoopi Goldberg

Insiders at The View claim the audience was coached by the crew on which host to cheer louder for during the January 4 episode of the show.

The sources told The U.S Sun that the crowd’s warm-up comedian Regina DeCicco specifically told everyone to give “a loud applause to Whoopi and then continue clapping for the other hosts.” They also suggested that the studio crew favored Whoopi, who shares the stage with co-hosts Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro.

“It seemed like the crew wanted Whoopi to get a standing ovation to make her feel like she’s the star of the show,” the insider said.

When asked if Whoopi was given special treatment, the source said the show’s moderator gets her touch-ups during the commercial breaks just as much as her co-hosts.

“The only difference is that the camera is on her first after returning from commercials since she’s the moderator. She also carried herself as if she had authority to talk over the other co-hosts and interrupt them.”

The Emmy award-winning host has come under fire from viewers for always talking over her co-hosts and shutting them down when they’re in the middle of speaking. The insider revealed that despite what it looks like on television, the hosts get along great when the cameras aren’t rolling.

“Behind the scenes, Whoopi appeared amicable with the co-hosts. She was chatty the most with Sara since they sit next to each other.”

This insider scoop aligns with the crew’s actions in the past, where they have gone out of their way to make Whoopi feel special. One example is Whoopi’s Birthday Extravaganza episode, which had massive giveaways, and Whoopi’s Prosecco. During the November 10 episode, the actress brought out a group of dancers who gave each host a bottle of Whoopi Prosecco.

While showing off her new drink, Goldberg said, “So how about some bubbly from my brand new line of Whoopi Prosecco? I love hosting gatherings with friends and family – that’s why I created Whoopi Prosecco.”

Not everyone over at The View is happy with Goldberg, especially after she did an interview with The Times of London, where she spoke more about her views on the Holocaust.

Goldberg said, “My best friend said, ‘Not for nothing is there no box on the census for the Jewish race. So that leads me to believe that we’re probably not a race.” However, after getting tons of backlash, Whoopi issued an apology through a statement to Deadline.

“It was never my intention to appear as if I was doubling down on hurtful comments, especially after talking with and hearing people like rabbis and old and new friends weighing in. I’m still learning a lot and believe me, I heard everything everyone said to me. I believe that the Holocaust was about race, and I am still as sorry now as I was then that I upset, hurt, and angered people.”

Viewers are still calling for ABC to fire Whoopi from The View for repeating her controversial comments.

One person wrote on Twitter, “@ABCNetwork @TheView …..already suspended her for this and she didn’t learn anything….do what’s right and send a message.”

“When Suspension didn’t work, termination is now the only thing Disney can do,” another wrote.

One viewer defended the show’s moderator, adding, “I can not stand Whoopi Goldberg but for me to scream at her when she won’t allow others to have freedom of speech, it would contradicting to not allow her to be able to say what she believes.”
