The View’s Sunny Hostin Gets Mad After Co-Hosts Mock Her During News Segment
Sunny Hostin got riled up during a recent episode of The View when Joy Beyhar and Ana Navarro mocked the way she speaks.
On Monday’s episode of The View, Sunny brought up the latest news on Balenciaga’s campaign scandal. The fashion brand faced backlash after releasing photos of children wearing teddy bear bags in bondage gear. Hostin, 54, explained that Balenciaga has decided to sue their set designer Nicholas Des Jardins. She also revealed that Nicholas’ agent claims the brand is using his client as a “scapegoat” While speaking on the serious issue, Sunny was struggling to pronounce the set designer’s last name, but powered through the segment.
The View co-host, Ana Navarro, couldn’t stop herself from taking a dig at Hostin.
“OK, I’ve just got to say something. You’re pronouncing Des Jardins like a Latina from …” An irritated Sunny paused and said, “I know I know.” Ana continued to say, “with a fancy French thing.”
Sunny clapped back and said, “With laryngitis on top of it.“
Joy Behar, who was the episode’s moderator while Whoopi Goldberg was away, also joined in. She put on a heavy green french accent, “Des Jardins. Des Jardins!” Behar, 80, made everyone laugh after she turned to the camera and said, “We’ll be right back,” in a thicker accent.
Sunny was absent from The View and her recent comment revealed why she was missing from the panel for more than two days. Joy explained during one of the talk show’s recent episodes, “Sunny is out of town somewhere. We don’t know where she is. So, it’s just the gang of four of us today.” At the time, the hosts of The View went down from six to four with Behar, Sara Haines, 45, Ana Navarro, 50, and Alyssa Farah Griffin, 33. Whoopi was missing from the panel as she recovered from COVID at home.
Upon her return to the talk show, Whoopi said she had a tough recovery this time. Goldberg spoke about the virus on the show and urged people to be careful while outside.
“You can get boosted within an inch of your life and then the next thing you know you got Covid again. But I don’t have it now, that’s why I’m back at the table.”
The View co-host encouraged viewers to wear masks while in public — “The true thing is, if you really want to protect yourself you probably need to keep the mask on a little more than you want to.”
