Bethenny Frankel Calls Out Celebs Who Have Yet to Cut Ties With Balenciaga Amid ‘Massive Scandal’

Bethenny Frankel is calling out celebrities for not cutting ties with fashion brand, Balenciaga, in order to maintain their front-row gigs at high-profile fashion shows. The Real Housewives of New York alum posted a series of videos, sharing her insight into the Balenciaga scandal after the company released an ad campaign featuring children holding teddy bears in bondage gear. Another photo included documents that pertained to a Supreme Court case that ruled on federal laws relating to child pornography.

The fallout from the ad campaign has resulted in a public outcry calling for a boycott of the brand. Kim Kardashian, model, Bella Hadid, and actress, Nicole Kidman, who all model for the company, have been ripped by fans demanding that the women take public stands against the fashion house.

Kim finally stated that she was “shocked and appalled” by the horrifying images, but did not commit to ending her relationship with Balenciaga.

Fans asked Bethenny to weigh in on why celebrities weren’t immediately separating themselves from the brand.

The former Bravo star called the situation a “massive scandal,” but added that from a “business standpoint,” paid celebs have probably been forbidden to speak out against the company. She added that not only are the women being paid to wear the clothes, but they’re also scoring prestigious magazine covers and invites to the Met Gala.

“Fashion has power,” she said. “People these days like Anna Wintour have more power than people in the entertainment industry.”

In a separate video, Bethenny spoke about Kering, the company that owns Balenciaga. Kering also owns Gucci and multiple other fashion brands.

“Perhaps, people who are in business with any of those fashion houses don’t want to comment,” the Skinnygirl mogul theorized.

Bethenny also made the connection that Coty, the company that licensed Balenciaga’s fragrance, owns 20% of Kim’s business and purchased Kylie Jenner’s lip kit company for $600 million.

Real Housewives of New Jersey star, Teresa Giudice, was slammed by fans after she was photographed wearing the controversial brand during a Thanksgiving getaway to Paris. Teresa was photographed wearing a white sweater printed with the company’s moniker.

One fan responded by slamming the Bravo star, writing — “Balenciaga…GREAT, another person to unfollow! You do realize there are normalizing child bondage, right? Are you ok with that? Shameful! UN FOLLOW!”

Lisa Rinna

Dua Lipa, Christine Quinn, Alexa Demie, and the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan are among a group of celebs receiving backlash for associating with the fashion brand. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Lisa Rinna, who regularly promotes Balenciaga on her Instagram account, attended the brand’s fashion show during Paris Fashion Week. After initially remaining silent, Rinna quipped that the “new Balenciaga campaign” was “f***ed up,” on her Instagram Story.
