Kandi Burruss’ Spin-Off Canceled Over Poor Ratings and Wild Shoot-Outs!
Kandi Burruss’ spin-off, Kandi & The Gang, has been canceled after one season, due to dismal ratings and shoot-outs at the Atlanta eatery.
Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Kandi, starred in the restaurant reality show with her husband, Todd Tucker, and the Old Lady Gang staff. The show, which aired from March to May, follows Burruss behind the scenes of their Atlanta restaurant as they juggle good food and their diverse employees working there.
During an AmazonLive session on November 17, Kandi Burruss announced the cancellation of her spin-off Kandi & The Gang. “Unfortunately, it is not returning. Bravo is not bringing it back. It’s so sad and I’m super sad about it,” she responded to a fan’s question.
According to many sources, the series was canceled due the show’s low ratings and shoot-out drama. When asked to comment about the cancellation, the Bravoleb said she wasn’t ready to address it.
Kandi began, “Honestly I’m not ready to give any statement. I really haven’t put my thoughts into words. I have not written a statement. All I can say is that I really love our show Kandi And The Gang and everyone in it.” She continued, “I feel like it deserves a second season. People ask me about the show every day. There will be a lot of disappointed fans. I’m disappointed.” This is not the only show Kandi and Todd are producers on, they are also producers on the Broadway show, ‘The Piano Lesson.’
Kandi admitted that talking about her spin-off’s cancellation was making her sadder. In an interview with Insider, Kandi said she wanted her spin-off to show the struggles they face as a small business. “We were trying to let people see that we have to deal with a lot of the same things. But at the same time, you know, a lot of times people want to see you as perfect, and they don’t wanna see the struggles.”
Kandi & The Gang fans reacted to the sad news on Instagram. One fan said, “Damn they always get rid of the good shows.” Another noted, “I kinda knew this when Todd said they might try and self produce it for Youtube.” One more fan said, “I am deeply saddened. I have been waiting for so long. Shame on Bravo! We need a petition! Bring it back Bravo!”
