Meghan King Dismisses Order of Protection Against Ex Jim Edmonds!
The Real Housewives of Orange County alum, Meghan King has gotten her restraining order against ex-husband Jim Edmonds dismissed.
Meghan, 37, filed a restraining order against her ex, Jim, in June of this year after she alleged that he was verbally abusing her. In the documents, Meghan claimed that she experienced the abuse in person, over text, and through their Family Wizard parenting app. Now, the former Bravo star has dismissed the order and a child protection order she requested but has not been granted through her attorney. In a statement released exclusively to PEOPLE, Meghan said, “As I continue to heal I’ve become enlightened and more aware of what I’ve been through and how to handle it. Let’s just say I’ll remain protected and safe with a binding document not accessible to the public.”
After the two orders were dismissed, Jim, 52, released a statement through his representative, Steve Honig, where he explained that he is ready to move forward from all this mess. “Jim is looking forward to putting all this nonsense behind him as he begins his new life with Kortnie and continues to focus on the needs of his children. There was no threat, which is why Meghan did not need any orders of protection.” King and Edmonds separated in October 2019 after four years of marriage though their divorce wasn’t finalized until May 2021. The former couple share three children, Aspen, 5, and twin boys, Hart and Hayes, aged 4.
When King filed the protection order in June, Jim said it was a desperate move by his ex-wife through his rep, Steve. “This request for an order of protection is completely baseless and furthermore makes an absolute mockery of the pain suffered by the millions of women in this country who are legitimate victims of abuse,” the statement read. After his separation from The Real Housewives of Orange County alum, Jim went on to have a relationship with Kortnie O’Conner in 2020 before proposing to her the following year.
Edmonds shared his love for Kortnie on his Instagram page saying, “If it wasn’t for this girl I don’t think I would be here right now. I was in such a dark place; one that I didn’t think could happen to me.” He continued, “Along came this beautiful woman by chance, who lit up my world and brought me back to life. I’m very grateful for my amazing friends, children and this amazing woman for making me a better person and father.”
