‘RHONJ’ Joe Gorga Embroiled In Low Income Housing Scandal – Tenants Risk Eviction!

It’s a family affair, when it comes to deals turned shady for Real Housewives of New Jersey couple, Joe and Melissa Gorga.

Right on the heels of Melissa’s boutique, ENVY, being shut down and stripped bare, Joe Gorga has been exposed smack in the middle of his own property scandal.

The issue involves a property owned by Gorga — located at at 57 Westervelt Avenue in Hawthorne, New Jersey. A few years ago, Joe was granted permission from the Hawthorne Planning Board to convert the factory property into 31 apartments, under the condition that he would provide six low income housing units.

In July of 2014, Joe came back to the board, and was granted permission to provide the units off-site, with the intention of fulfilling his promise with three 2-family homes. Joe was eventually granted the CO (Certificate of Occupancy) for Millview Lofts without keeping his commitment.

The property was described in a 2014 listing as a “Brand New Luxury Apartment Complex @ Millview Lofts! Features Ground Level Unit With 3 Bedrooms! L/Rm/Combo Kit, Cac,Granite Tops, 3300 Sqft Roof Top Lounge Area, W/Breath Taking Nyc Skyline Views! Storage Units In Lower Level Available, On Site Parking, Elevator, Laundry On Site, High Ceilings, Bbq Area, Horse Shoe Pit, Golf Putting Green!! A Must See!! This Complex Offers Lots Of Historical Character… Full Gym Onsite.”

Local news reports that Joe has not yet secured a property intended for the affordable units. Officials were told last June that Joe was purchasing a multi-unit complex that would take care of the problem, but no closing has taken place. Joe allegedly claimed the same plan, back in 2015. Meanwhile, the developer/reality husband is collecting rent on the luxe apartments, and Passaic County public officials are being criticized by the local press, for buying a quasi-celeb’s shtick.

The only course of action is believed to be a drastic one — revoke the Certificate of Occupancy for Millview Lofts, and toss the residents out into the winter streets.

Joe Gorga is in a hot mess — one that Bravo editors can’t clean up. Stay tuned.
