Exclusive: The Real Tea Behind The Demise of Kandi Burruss and Phaedra Parks Friendship
At the conclusion of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” season 7, the breakdown of the friendship between Phaedra Parks and Kandi Burruss was front and center. Viewers were led to believe that Kandi was selfishly not supportive of Phaedra’s prison widow drama, which supposedly sent Phaedra into the arms of NeNe Leakes.
Phaedra and Kandi have a long history of bestie loyalty, and something about this scenario simply does not ring true. The real tea behind their rift is this…Kandi Burruss was well aware that Phaedra Parks was cheating on Apollo with the alleged “Mr. Chocolate.” That made Kandi uncomfortable and she took a neutral stance when Apollo’s cheating accusations were discussed, which was interpreted by Phaedra as unsupportive.

During part two of the season 7 reunion, Kandi avoided all questions of Phaedra’s alleged affair that would expose Phaedra as a low-down cheater. Kandi was trying to maintain a shred of integrity, especially in the eyes of her husband Todd, while balancing on the already shaky friendship fence with Phaedra.
On tonight’s episode, the frenemies Kandi and Phaedra rehash the state of their friendship dilemma. During the discussion, Kandi breaks into tears trying to figure out where their relationship stands.
In the video clip above, the ladies discuss many new issues like Kandi and her husband, Todd storing some of Apollo Nida’s belongings while he serves his 6-year prison sentence for identity fraud. Kandi and Todd have also taken issue with Phaedra’s refusal to pay Todd (in full) for production services on her workout video.
However, according to a source, Phaedra was very angry that Kandi didn’t back her up in her claims of faithfulness. Kandi’s diss was supposedly the beginning of a carefully thought out plot manipulation, designed to serve Parks in far bigger ways than a viewer could imagine.
As reported, Parks sat for a five-hour deposition in June 2014, as part of a defamation lawsuit she was seeking against Angela Stanton, author of ‘Lies of a Real Housewife: Tell the Truth and Shame the Devil.’ The book candidly exposes Apollo and Phaedra’s alleged scams involving check and theft fraud, which resulted in Angela taking the fall, and Phaedra wriggling free. Parks was accused of being evasive, shifty, and unprofessional during the deposition, and was also supposedly caught in lies, making it necessary to remind a LAWYER that her testimony was under the penalty of perjury.
