RECAP: Angela’s Nigerian ‘Beast’ Rocks Her World On ’90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days’
Brand new 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days characters busted onto the scene Sunday night — let the Green Card games begin!
Ricky and Melissa
The episode begins with Ricardo “Ricky” Reyes being stood up by his Columbian pinup dream, Melissa. Ricky is “deeply in love,” via text, and hopes to make his text lover his wife. Melissa is two hours late, and although Ricky feels a tad disrespected, he’s willing to throw her a few more hours. Melissa finally sends a snap of a taxi dashboard, delivering picture proof of…a taxi dashboard. Ricky is nervous and excited, especially when Melissa texts her prelude to her grand entrance.
Melissa finally arrives, and is rocking middle school braces on a porn star bod. There’s zero chemistry between the two, but Ricky’s charm cannot be denied — at least by him. They awkwardly chat about plane rides and homework, before calling it a night. They share a goodnight hug, and Ricky is over the moon.
Rachel and Jon
Rachel Bear and Jon Walters are busily getting acquainted in London, after Rachel and Lucy’s long trip. The couple swaps passionate googly eyes, but Jon admits in a confessional spot that Rachel’s looks aren’t exactly his cuppa tea. The couple will spend the next two weeks together, and Jon kicks it off by delivering a creepy car come-on. Jon seems to be a beat behind, but their chemistry is undeniable. Rachel is happy, and although Lucy has been dragged across the globe, the babe is hanging in there.
The trio drives for three long hours, before arriving at the house Jon shares with his mother. The skeptical mum reveals that her lad is a fickle fellow, adding that sweet Lucy might be a deal breaker. Jon shows off his prepared nursery and Rachel is touched by his effort. Jon shares his first interaction with the baby and is immediately overwhelmed.
His confidence is zero, and he’s not sure that he’s ready to take on an instant family. They finally put Lucy to bed, and Jon does his best to play attentive daddy.
Angela and Michael
Angela Deem and Michael Ilesanmi finally see each other for the first time, after the reserved Nigerian shares his qualms about dating caucasian and American. The lovebirds seem happy, and their May/December smooches entertain the amused locals. Michael admits that his new honey is larger, older, and more high-volume in person — but he’s happy anyway. They check into a hotel —one bed only please — and Angela showers him with closeout Trump-wear. Michael loves Trump, loves business, and loves America — but is a bit overwhelmed by Angela’s red-hot enthusiasm. We later catch the lovebirds in full afterglow mode, and Angela is one happy woman.
Angela’s love tank is overflowing, and Michael is shellshocked by her ‘masculine” sexual energy. They travel to Michael’s mother’s home, and the locals gather to gawk at the larger than life granny, as the duo enters the home.
Paul and Karine
We catch up with Karine Martins in mid-pout, peeved that Paul Staehle is demanding a pregnancy test, because of shared social media kissy faces. After a bathroom flounce, Karine obliges, and puts Paul’s suspicious mind at ease. Paul moves onto the next order of business — presenting his criminal record to Karine’s parents. Paul hires a translator, who spells out Paul’s past as an arsonist, a fraud, and a stalker. Karine’s parents are less than thrilled, but Paul does his best to put their minds at ease about his shady past. Paul promises them that he won’t push their daughter around, or burn down their home. Karine’s father kindly reassures him that the past is in the past, but Mom delivers a fierce warning, through a nervous smile. The wedding is officially on.
Tarik and Hazel
Tarik Myers is in the middle of his long trip to the Philippines, to meet Hazel for the first time. The airline messes up his ticket, stranding him in Bangkok, coincidentally the homeland of his last Asian ex. Tarik finally lands in Manila, as TLC zips us back in time to meet Hazel. Hazel openly admits that life in the Philippines blows, and that she’s looking for an American meal ticket. Tarik is the winner, because he has a good job and a big house. Hazel’s broke, and claims that she lost her son to his father, because he’s a better provider. Hazel panics when she hears of Tarik’s Bangkok layover, wondering if his ex might be swiping her new life out from under her. Tarik and Hazel later navigate their first meeting, and Tarik is overwhelmed by her beauty. Hazel, however, is less than enthused by Tarik’s doughy physique. Tarik catches her icy vibe, so he assures her that he didn’t grab a quickie with his ex in the Bangkok airport. They check into a rental condo, but Hazel isn’t happy about the one bed accommodations.
They agree on a pillow barrier, and a friendly smooch, because Hazel wants Pudge to put a ring on it, before she puts out.
Darcy and Jesse
Darcy Silva kicks things off by informing the audience that the couple “feels good” — evidently energized by filmed fights, tears and tantrums. The messy lovebirds stroll in the park, sharing their thoughts about Jesse Meester meeting Darcy’s daughters for the first time. Jesse promises not to be a controlling a-hole in front of the girls, and they agree to keep their disturbing dynamic behind closed doors. Darcy’s expectations are sky high — but Jesse reminds her that the kiddos probably shouldn’t call him daddy just yet.
Jesse later presents Darcy with a penned birthday letter, as the couple emotionally preps to greet the children. The girls arrive in the city, and Aniko is ready to get hip with a fellow millennial. Aspen looks like she wants the floor to swallow her whole, and is appropriately uncomfortable throughout the whole ordeal. They take a Staten Island Ferry ride and swap small talk, but the convo is forced. Darcy labels Jesse a step-daddy against his will, and forces a family hug to prove it.
