‘Vanderpump Rules’ Cast Defend Brittany Cartwright’s Mom From Homophobic Accusations

On the most recent episode of Vanderpump Rules, Jax Taylor celebrated his 37th birthday by being roasted. Unfortunately, Jax’s girlfriend, Brittany Cartwright’s mom, Sherri was in the audience.

The VPR cast took aim at Jax, and let’s face it, he’s a pretty easy target. Tom Schwartz pointed out that Jax had slept with four of Katie Maloney’s bridesmaids. Other teased him about cheating, lying, and stealing.

But when Tom Sandoval took the stage, he said:

“He’s slept with many, many, many women, and a few men. You know there’s many rumors floating around about Jax having homosexual affairs, as a young model in Miami…It’s only gay if you like it. Listen, those bills, they’re not gonna pay themselves right?”

After hearing all of Jax’s transgressions, Sherri was most concerned about the gay rumors. Soon, social media had branded her homophobic. Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute came to her defense.

Stassi tweeted that Sherri was a gay activist.

Sherri tweeted back that she loves everyone.

Kristen Doute showed her support by tweeting that she loves Sherri.

According to Kristen, Sherri couldn’t be more supportive of the LGBTQ community.

One of Brittany’s close friends tweeted that Sherri had been nothing but kind and welcoming to him as a gay man.

Viewers attacked Sherri, claiming that by questioning Jax about his sexuality, she was homophobic. They insisted she disapproved of gays and demanded she admit to being wrong. Sherri apologized.

After the roast, Jax asked Sherri if she was okay with everything that went on. She said she was fine, but wondered about him kissing another man. She said:

“Um…kissing the guy, that was the most offensive to me, the homosexual thing.”

Jax explained that he lived with a gay friend, John, and that nothing sexual occurred between them.

Later, Jax said in his confessional:

“I have a serious problem with people judging me. I know that Sherri’s a very conservative Christian lady but with all the things that I’ve done in my life, the going to jail, the cheating, the stealing, the thing that sticks out most is that I might have kissed a guy? Really?!”

In an upcoming episode, Sherri questions Jax further. But he insists his friends were just being silly.

On Watch What Happens Live, Jax said he wasn’t ready to make a commitment to Brittany and blamed it on her family’s values.

“Relationships need work and they need to make sure we find a happy medium, but I think you’re gonna see in the future how things are and I’ll leave it at that, because there’s just certain things that I’m on board with and there’s things that I’m not on board with, and I’ve got to find a happy medium with her family. They’re very religious, and they’re conservative. And that’s awesome. That’s amazing. I just come from a little bit different of a background.”

On the other hand, he said they’ve welcomed him into the fold.

“I love Brittany’s family. They’re really great. They are nothing but hospitable to me. They just take great care of me. They’re just country people, farmers, and they just feed me, feed me, feed me and just take really nice care of me… They just treat me like one of their own. So it’s really nice.”

So, do you think Sherri should have apologized for questioning Jax? And will he ever settle down with Brittany?
