‘Vanderpump Rules’ Star Scheana Marie Shay Files for Divorce From Husband Mike Shay
They said it wouldn’t last and they were right. It’s over for Vanderpump Rules couple Scheana Marie Shay and Mike Shay.
Scheana filed for divorce on November 30, after two years of marriage. The former couple gave a joint statement to US Weekly about the “difficult decision” to part ways.
“While we have made the difficult decision to move forward separately, our story will continue on through the love and mutual respect that we have cultivated throughout our 15-year friendship. Much of the recent speculation and reporting on our relationship has been misguided, and we have come to an amicable decision on all matters. We might have failed at our marriage, but we are committed to succeeding as friends and will continue to support each other’s personal happiness and professional success.”
The two have had a rocky relationship for months.
On Nov 2, Mike was MIA, failing to return home after band practice. Unable to reach him, Scheana became worried Mike had fallen off the wagon after one year of sobriety, following an eight-year addiction to pain killers.
Mike’s struggles were one of the storylines on Vanderpump Rules in 2015, including an intervention prompted by Scheana.
Shortly after Mike’s disappearance, he posted a statement on Instagram saying his was still sober, but alluded to the fact that his marriage to Scheana could be over.
“I am not missing. I am sober. I am Happy!!!” he wrote on Instagram on November 7. “Don’t believe everything you read. I love my wife and will always love my wife. Whatever is going on between us will stay between us! I love my family and my family loves me and a lot of things have been said out is protection and anger by many people. I just ready for the next chapter in my life!”
A source close to the couple confirmed to US that the couple’s “relationship is strained.” Though weeks earlier, Scheana was still in damage control mode, professing her love to her husband through Instagram.
“#MCM to this stud! Love you baby!! @mikeshaymusic.”
But fans knew there would be troubled waters ahead for the couple based on a comment from Scheana during her promotion of the upcoming season of VPR.
“You will see a different side to our relationship this season, and that’s all I’m going to say,” Scheana said.
The couple married on July 27, 2014, and the wedding was featured as part of Season 3. Hopefully co-stars Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney’s marriage will not become victim to the same outcome.
