Bethenny Frankel Hints To Not Returning To Real Housewives of New York—’I Left it Behind’

Bethenny Frankel recently spoke to Entertainment Tonight, and hinted that she might be planning a step away from The Real Housewives of New York. Frankel, 45, returned to the franchise after a three season break, and believes that the audience is “enjoying” the ride. 

“I’ve been definitely distancing myself from the show this summer,” Bethenny tells ET.  “It was a long year – it’s definitely work.”

“I’m glad that the audience is enjoying it, but I’ve left it behind,” she added.

Bethenny reveals that a particularly rough reunion taping last month, may prove to be her tipping point.

“It was very, very negative and I didn’t enjoy it at all,” she said. “Something very dramatic happened … that questioned my integrity. If someone questions my business or my integrity I take it really seriously – I don’t just gloss over it.”

Bethenny states the obvious, after fans witnessed her mercilessly rip into Sonja Morgan during the first half of the season. Sonja announced that she was joining in a venture to market spirits under the moniker “Tipsy Girl,” and Bethenny turned vicious.   

“So I think that maybe the fun and light Bethenny that people expect, with the quips and the comebacks weren’t there,” she added.

Are there any fans out there that still link “fun” or “light” with Bethenny? It has simply been too long, since we’ve seen that Skinnygirl. Bethenny has come under harsh fan criticism this season, for her abrasive and self-titled “zero fu*ks” treatment of several of her cast mates. 

Bethenny takes issue with her co-stars not living transparently for the cameras, evidently forgetting to mention that she chose to hide a married boyfriend all season.

I live my life honestly,” Bethenny said. “You have 50 percent of the cast that has a whole taboo, police line, ‘do not cross’ section of their life that is not discussed on camera and never has been. For legal issues and liability issues, Bravo doesn’t need to bring it up and it’s a difficult line to ride, and that may be why I don”t come back.”

Was this too-good-to-be true interview simply crafted  to hype the reunion series, set to kick off in two weeks — or can a girl dare to hope that Bravo’s NYC might be a happier place next season? I am not holding my breath.
