‘Little Women: Atlanta’ Recap: Minnie Calls Out Monie On Her Status As A Little Person
We begin this episode of Little Women: Atlanta, with Monie and Morlin fighting. Morlin has egg on his face, literally. Monie is mad because he had the nerve to take her former BFF Minnie, to pick out her engagement ring, when he knew she was mad at her. Monie explains to the viewers that when she gets extremely mad, she becomes Monietized and will toss anything in her hand onto the victim. Last season it was Ms. Juicy, this season it is Morlin. She apologies to Morlin and they hug it out.
Minnie is meeting with the twins Amanda and Andrea to talk trash about nosey Melissa. Andrea says “she wasn’t impressed with the bitch.” They also didn’t appreciate Melissa making them feel like they were strippers. I mean, they twerk and show a little ass and people toss money at them and make it rain, but they don’t get naked. They are dignified twerkers, m’kay? Then Amanda asks Minnie how did she feel when she wasn’t chosen to be the Maid of Honor for Monie’s wedding? Minnie admits she was still a bit salty and felt like she was slapped in the face, but really she wanted to slap Ms. Juicy because she could tell she was gloating. Minnie snarks “it doesn’t matter because Ms. Juicy will always be a bridesmaid and never a bride”. Wrong again, Minnie: Ms. Juicy was married for 15-years, and she is not JUST a bridesmaid, she is the Slave Maid of Honor. #TwirlOnThat
Morlin and Monie are at Shane Company where he first purchased her ring because the ring fit Minnie’s fat fingers, but not the bride to be. Since they are getting it resized anyway, Monie tries to talk Morlin into upgrading her ring. #Ungrateful. Morlin doesn’t fall for that mess. Even the saleslady tells Monie that her little fingers will make her diamond look bigger. #SalesladyShade. Monie’s ring size is a 4 (mine too!). After the sizing, she then tells Morlin he needs to do the proper thing and ask her daddy for her hand in marriage or there will be no marriage. Yes, Morlin, you can move in with Monie, pay all her bills, because she cannot keep a job, and share a bed with her, BUT if you don’t ask daddy for his blessing, no marriage for you. #RunWhileUCanMorlin. Morlin says he will man up and meet her daddy, even though he knows her dad doesn’t like anyone who dates Monie.
Amanda is calling her sister because Andrea had to be rushed to the hospital again. Apparently she and Chris got into a huge argument and she went into premature labor. With an I.V. needle stuck in her hand she and Amanda are arguing on the phone about how Chris treats her. Andrea doesn’t want to hear Amanda screaming about how drunk Chris was at the hospital (#Bum), and how the hospital staff threw him out, so she hangs up on her sister.
Emily is speaking to Bri on the phone regarding the prognosis of Little JJ. She will need to have a tracheotomy in order for him to come home according to his doctors. Lontel doesn’t want this but Emily feels this is the only way he can get better and make progress to breathing on his own.
Morlin and Monie are cleaning their home in preparation for the arrival of Daddy. Monie explains that he is actually her stepfather. He married her mom when she was two years of age and is the only dad she knows. Monie’s brother arrives also. Daddy starts giving Morlin the business like most fathers will do to their daughter’s boyfriends. He is shocked to learn that Morlin is living with Monie. Morlin explains that he lives there, but pays all the bills because Monie doesn’t work. Monie’s dad then asks how much money does Morlin make. Morlin takes this opportunity to excuses himself to go to the bathroom. Daddy gives Morlin a hard time regarding his physical fitness, or lack thereof. Morlin doesn’t think this is a good time to ask for Monie’s hand in marriage. #SmartMan.
Amanda tries to visit with her sister once she is home. The doctor places her on bed rest. Amanda asks Andrea why did she hang up on her. Andrea tells her she didn’t want t hear her talking shit about her man. And then it gets messy. They start taking and screaming and cussing in twin-talk and I cannot hear a damn thing but bark bark bark, cluck…cluck…cluck. It is so squeaky that my dog starts yelping. Andrea finally kicks Amanda out of her apartment. #ThankGawd. Amanda goes home to her boyfriend Jordan and starts crying. Jordan is over it. He says all she and her sister does is fight and Amanda should butt out because Andrea is a grown ass woman. He is tired of it and if they continue to fight, he will leave the relationship.
Monie invites everyone out for drinks to meet her dad and brother. Right away Ms. Juicy is lusting after Monie’s brother. Morlin is nervous and drinking a long island iced tea (which has 5 types of liquor in it by the way). Monie’s dad teases Morlin because he isn’t being a real man and drinking straight whiskey like them. #PoorMorlin. They all have fun discussing sibling rivalry. Then the conversation turns serious when Amanda and Ms. Juicy speak about childhood bullies. Ms. Juicy says she never let her tormenters see her cry and she would handle her business. Jordan starts to cry and express how it hurts him when outsiders tease the tiny twins in his presence. Ms. Juicy gives him a verbal hug in the way of a pep talk. She basically tells him to ignore the ignorant because he has the prettiest girl around. #Awww.
They begin to discuss the types of dwarfism they all have. Minnie says she is Acon as well s the twins, Ms. Juicy says she has the type of dwarfism that is affected due to her pituitary gland (no growth hormones). Monie doesn’t know what type she has because she was never tested. Her daddy pipes in and says they knew she was different, but she would just have to deal with it and she turned out fine. Ms. Juicy decides to change the subject by offering a toast as Maid of Honor to the happy couple. Oops! Daddy is not pleased to learn they are engage. Morlin at this time tries to ask for Monie’s hand in marriage. Daddy flat out refuses to give his blessing. #Embarrassing. Monie takes her dad outside and, through tears, basically asks for his cooperation. She asks him to trust her instincts and give Morlin a chance.
River days at the Chattahoochee: Minnie plans an outing with all the cast (except Melissa) to ride inner tubes down the Chattahoochee River. The only caveat is no one in the group can actually swim except Minnie. #Unfortunate: Sidebar – Black people CAN swim – Simone Manuel just won the Gold Medal in Olympic Swimming. I can swim extremely well and my husband was on the high school swim team. I digress. All of them, including the men (pathetic), have to be fitted with life jackets in 5 feet water while riding inner tubes a/k/a huge floatation devices. #Seriously? All in all they have a great time and Morlin even flips the raft so Minnie goes into the water. #Christened – LakeToss-A-Hoochie
After the water ride, Minnie has a picnic table set up for snacks. The conversation — instigated by Minnie because she has an axe to grind, returns to why isn’t Monie taking a test to determine what type of dwarfism she has. Monie replies she didn’t know there was a statute of limitation on “Name That Dwarfism.” Minnie says she is curious because Monie has been hanging with them. Minnie also says Monie looks like Shaq compared to them. #LowBlow. Ms. Juicy interjects and tells Minnie to stop the BS because she and Monie are the same height so what’s the big deal. Then Minnie accuses Monie of faking dwarfism. #YouCan’tSitWithUs!
Ms. Juicy tells Monie she can get tested whenever she feels ready, and when she does, she will be there with her. See THIS is why Ms. Juicy is the Maid of Honor and Minnie is just a girl who lies a lot about boyfriends and fake pregnancies. Monie is hurt and asks if Minnie is the spokesperson for the group. #Crickets. At that moment, Monie and Morlin leave the table. #Deuces. Ms. Juicy has a look of horror on her face and Minnie is smiling like the hateful mean girl she is. #MsTammyWouldBeProud.
Next week, we find out that Minnie has daddy problems which may explain why she has more issues than Vogue magazine; the twins are still fighting, Lontel is being unsympathetic to Emily and Monie gets tested.
