Denise Richards Granted 5-Year Restraining Order After Accusing Ex Aaron Phypers of Domestic Abuse

A judge has officially sided with Denise Richards after her lengthy legal battle with ex-husband Aaron Phypers.

On Friday, Nov. 7, Denise, 54, was granted a five-year restraining order against Aaron, 53. The order — which will remain in effect until Nov. 7, 2030 — follows Denise Richards’ claims that Aaron Phypers was physically abusive throughout their six-year marriage before he filed for divorce in July.

Under the new order, Aaron is prohibited from owning or purchasing firearms, having any contact with Denise, disturbing her peace, or abusing her in any way. If communication between the two does occur, Richards is legally permitted to record all conversations.

The order also mandates that Aaron Phypers return Denise’s laptop and bars him from sharing photos of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum or disclosing any information about her to the media. In addition, he is required to return videos of Denise’s surgeries and permanently delete them from every device and his iCloud account.

Denise was first granted a temporary restraining order on July 16, just 11 days after Denise filed for divorce. During a hearing last month, Denise testified that her estranged husband “caused me at least three concussions” and that she “feared for my life.” Aaron was arrested inside a Los Angeles courthouse on October 17, 2025, after a felony warrant was issued over allegations of spousal abuse.

He was charged with four felonies: two counts of injuring a spouse and two counts of dissuading a witness by force or threat. Prosecutors allege the charges stem from incidents in January and May 2022, which Aaron has repeatedly denied, claiming the accusations are “false” and part of a legal strategy by Denise. He was released hours later after posting $200,000 bond.

One of the alleged incidents occurred on Jan. 17, 2022, when Denise said Aaron Phypers struck her in the eye, resulting in a black eye. Another incident allegedly took place between March and May 2022, when Denise Richards testified that Aaron “slammed me up against the concrete wall and my head hit it” at his Malibu wellness center, causing another concussion.

Denise claimed a third concussion was confirmed by diagnostic equipment at the facility after a separate incident in April 2025 at a Chicago hotel, where she alleged Aaron “was squeezing my head so hard” that “it felt like he was crushing my skull.” Denise said Aaron regularly called her names, threatened her safety, and made her feel vulnerable during multiple surgeries.

She told the court he “would often threaten to throw me through the windows and off balconies.” “He’s almost killed me so many damn times,” Denise testified. Denise Richards also described a separate alleged confrontation in September, claiming that Aaron Phypers returned to her property to retrieve his laptop but instead “grabbed me by both arms and then pushed me down on the stairs” before leaving with her laptop, purse, and credit cards.

Taking the stand, Aaron denied every allegation, saying: “I never physically harmed Denise Richards… I never threatened to harm her… I did not threaten to kill anybody.” He dismissed testimony in Denise’s favor, claiming, “A lot of people like to be close to the stars. They’ll do things for them,” and called the accusations “made up.”
