Mary Cosby’s Son ARRESTED for Assault and Trespassing at His Father-in-Law’s Home!
Mary Cosby’s son, Robert Cosby Jr., was arrested on September 6 and hit with a string of serious charges, all while she fights to keep her family together through his heartbreaking battle with addiction.
According to TMZ, police responded to a domestic violence call outside Salt Lake City, where Robert Jr. allegedly tried to break into his father-in-law’s home by climbing through a doggy door. Things turned even messier when he reportedly assaulted someone on the front lawn.
Cops ordered him to get on the ground — but Robert Jr. allegedly refused at first before finally complying and being taken into custody. He’s currently being held on a $10,000 bond.
Mary, 52, addressed the shocking arrest during a September 9 interview with Dorinda Medley on her Reality Checked Sirius XM podcast, opening up about her son’s ongoing struggle. “He’s doing as good as he can,” Mary admitted. “It’s his journey. I can’t make… I told him, ‘If you don’t make your mind up, then this is all for nothing.’ … I can just only push him, encourage him and love him.”
The RHOSLC OG got emotional about watching her son’s struggles play out, saying, “He’s still on that road and it’s a hardcore road. It’s tough to watch as a mom.”
Mary also shared her hopes for Robert Jr.’s future, while trying to keep her son on track. “It’s hurtful to see his dad is most of the time devastated. But at the same time, I have hope and I believe in him. I know he’s got all the tools and the willpower that he needs and the support. He just needs to make up his mind,” she said.
Robert Cosby Jr.’s current legal troubles trace back to a 2022 DUI arrest, where he was caught driving without a license and breaking traffic laws. During that arrest, he was seen tossing a case of beer into a dumpster and admitted he had recently used Xanax, OxyContin, and marijuana.
Robert ultimately pleaded guilty to the DUI charge, which led to the other charges being dropped. But his struggles didn’t stop there — court documents reveal he tested positive for cocaine, fentanyl, and THC in May 2024, signaling a deeper battle with substance abuse.
Mary Cosby opened up about the ordeal during the RHOSLC season 5 reunion, sharing that Robert Jr. made the decision to enter rehab on his own. He completed a 30-day rehabilitation program, and Mary proudly said he “came out a new person.”
Despite the progress, Robert’s journey has been rocky, as he now faces new charges related to trespassing, assault, and violating court orders. Mary continues to stand by her son, encouraging him to stay committed to his sobriety and turn his life around.
