Gia Giudice Claims RHONJ Destroyed Her Family and Painted Her Life Negatively!
Gia Giudice is stepping into her own spotlight—and leaving some painful family history behind.
During the May 26 episode of her Casual Chaos podcast, the 24-year-old Real Housewives of New Jersey daughter spoke candidly about the longstanding feud between her mother, Teresa Giudice, and uncle Joe Gorga and aunt Melissa Gorga, explaining how the Bravo show has impacted her relationships—especially with her cousins.
“It’s the jealousy, the hurt, the competition, the money, everything that falls into play,” Gia shared. “Because this show really sometimes could create such a toxic and turmoil environment for families, it’s really hard for the cousins to stay close.”
Gia, who remained close with her father Joe Giudice’s side after her parents’ divorce, said the tension between Teresa and her brother Joe has driven a wedge between her and her cousins—Gino, Antonia, and Joey.
“We’ve reached out to my cousins for years, always wishing them a happy birthday and things like that, but we stopped receiving that in return,” she said. “So it’s almost like, why continue if you’re not receiving the same thing in return? It’s sad.”
The recent Rutgers graduate also reflected on becoming more vocal on RHONJ over the years, noting she stayed silent until she turned 18. “It just came to the point where I couldn’t take it,” she recalled. “I would be sitting there, watching scenarios play out, and I would think to myself, ‘You’re lying. This is not how it happened.’”
Gia admitted that speaking out wasn’t easy and triggered backlash from fans. “I got called disrespectful… but it is really difficult when it’s your life and it’s your family and you have so much anger,” she explained. When her guest, Lexi Ioannou, commented that she “felt suffocated for so long” during her own time on reality TV, Gia agreed: “That is the perfect word… I felt suffocated. It was a lot.”
Despite their differences, Gia described herself as both “very similar and very different” from her mom, Teresa. “I am still, I think, the more rational one,” she said, before adding, “I take, I take, I take, and then I explode… So in the aspects of our temper, I would say we’re the same.”
Now, Gia is turning the page with Next Gen NYC, Bravo’s new show following the lives of Real Housewives’ children. “I’m actually getting away from my family drama,” she said of the series.
“I’m creating my own vision, path, identity for myself… Housewives, I was never excited for it because… it was always just negative about my family.” And while she says Next Gen NYC won’t be drama-free, it’s refreshingly different: “Nobody gives a sh*t that my mom and uncle don’t talk… It’s not too much but it’s also not toxic in any way.”
Next Gen NYC premieres Tuesday, June 3, at 9/8c on Bravo.
