Sonja Morgan BANNED From NYC Restaurant After Demanding Free $1K Dinner — Claims She Was Misled Into Thinking It Was for Promo!
Sonja Morgan is denying any bad behavior after reports surfaced that she caused a scene at a New York City restaurant and was subsequently banned from the venue.
According to Page Six, the Real Housewives of New York City alum, 61, was booted from Tucci, a trendy Italian restaurant in the city’s NoHo neighborhood, following a dramatic night out on Saturday, May 11. The drama reportedly stemmed from a disputed $1,000 bill that Sonja allegedly attempted to get waived.
“She was absolutely hysterical and refused to pay. It was like she was filming a ‘Housewives’ episode, shouting, ‘I’m a celebrity!’” a source told the outlet.
“She was like, ‘I don’t pay; people pay me [to go to their restaurants].’ She was absolutely entitled and caused a scene about not paying.”
The insider also claimed Sonja arrived with a reservation for three but brought five people, adding to the chaos. The group had reportedly planned to dine at Tucci before heading to a birthday party at Boom Boom for Sonja’s cousin, Jack Morgan, 30.
Despite the claims, Sonja told Page Six that the incident was the result of a “miscommunication.” “There was a clear miscommunication,” she said. “I believed I was dining in exchange for a promotional post. … I made that known to staff.”
Tucci’s owner, Max Tucci, confirmed to the outlet that while Sonja did pay the bill and leave a tip by Monday, she is now officially banned from the restaurant.
“It’s not about me. Don’t do that to my staff,” he said. “The cost of everything is so expensive right now [for restaurants], and she’s just taking advantage. … There was no arrangement for her to have a comped dinner. She just wanted free food and service.”
Sonja, who was a full-time cast member on The Real Housewives of New York City from seasons 3 through 13, has not commented further on the ban or whether she will be returning to any Bravo projects.
