Lisa Vanderpump Says She’s Done Defending James Kennedy After His Domestic Violence Arrest!
Lisa Vanderpump is making it clear: her patience with James Kennedy has run out. As Vanderpump Rules gears up for Season 12 with a fresh cast, the longtime matriarch of the show revealed she’s no longer standing by James following his recent controversies.
“I’ve had so much patience with him. I was so happy to see him with Ally and doing so well,” Lisa told Us Weekly. “I know it’s a disease, but at some point, you’ve got to say, ‘I cannot support this anymore,’ with some people when they keep making the same mistakes.”
James, 33, made headlines last year after being arrested in December 2024 on suspicion of domestic violence following a relapse. Shortly after the incident, he and longtime girlfriend Ally Lewber called it quits. Adding fuel to the fire, he received backlash for posing in photos with Andrew Tate, an influencer facing serious human trafficking allegations.
Lisa, who has consistently gone to bat for James throughout his struggles with alcohol and anger management, says this time is different. She admitted that she’s barely spoken to James since the arrest, choosing instead to speak with Ally first.
“James reached out, but I said, ‘Before I speak to you, I want to speak to Ally and understand it completely.’ I did talk to Ally at great length, and she reassured me that nothing happened physically — they were just in a drunken nonsense,” she said.
But Ally’s version of events paints a more complicated picture. Speaking on The Viall Files podcast, Ally said Lisa called to ask if she was okay, describing the call as “really weird” given the timing and context.
Ally explained that Lisa, whom she saw as “motherly” and “very protective over James,” told her, “Ally, he needs you. You’re really good together.” Lisa allegedly even suggested Ally travel with James to his DJ gigs, despite the fact that they were no longer together and his shows had been canceled.
Ally also claimed Lisa pointed out, “Well, you were drinking, too,” implying shared blame in the incident. The conversation left Ally feeling “weak in the moment,” questioning whether she had made the right decision in walking away.
When asked if she believed James had encouraged the call, Ally admitted she wasn’t sure. However, when pressed about protecting Lisa, Ally confessed, “Yeah.”
James has since claimed he’s back on the path to sobriety, but it seems Lisa has officially shifted her focus. As she put it bluntly: “I’ve got a new cast of young little minxes to worry about now.”
