Andy Cohen Claims Putting Real Housewives of Dubai on Pause Is a ‘Smart Business Move’ Amid Terrible Ratings!
Andy Cohen is calling the decision to pause Real Housewives of Dubai “smart business,” as the show struggles with poor ratings and a shaky future.
Speaking with PEOPLE, Andy addressed the show’s indefinite hiatus, emphasizing that the decision wasn’t personal but rather a calculated business move. “It’s just smart business,” Andy explained.
“We have a lot of Housewives going right now. And it’s one of the reasons it took so long to get The Real Housewives of Atlanta going and one of the reasons we’re in a deep pause with The Real Housewives of New Jersey. We just want to make sure we get everything right and be very deliberate with everything we’re doing.”
While it’s no secret that TV decisions are largely driven by ratings, Andy clarified that RHODubai’s live ratings weren’t the sole factor in its pause. He noted that streaming numbers on Peacock and other platforms also play a critical role in evaluating a show’s success.
“The great thing about the Housewives in general is that the numbers are super high for all of them across the board, especially when you factor in Peacock and streaming,” Andy said.
He explained that Bravo looks at “the full picture” when making decisions, citing RHONJ as an example. Despite having higher ratings than the rebooted RHONY, RHONJ is also on pause as the network reassesses casting and other factors.
“We love these shows,” Andy continued. “We all want to get it right.”
For fans holding out hope for a Season 3 of RHODubai, Andy didn’t rule out the possibility but made it clear that it wouldn’t happen anytime soon.
The network is currently prioritizing its more established franchises, ensuring that the flagship shows remain strong before expanding further. Although the pause is disappointing for fans of the Dubai Housewives, Andy’s focus on a thoughtful and strategic approach suggests the series could return stronger than ever—when the time is right.
