Schwartz & Sandy’s Shuts Down as Bad Reviews and Scandoval Scandal Destroy Its Reputation!
Vanderpump Rules stars Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval are closing Schwartz & Sandy’s, their dream bar, as Scandoval’s fallout finally takes its toll.
The journey began with high hopes in July 2022, when Tom Schwartz and Tom Sandoval arrived at their bar’s grand opening in matching outfits, radiating optimism. Sandoval rolled in on a motorcycle, while Schwartz rode in a sidecar, symbolizing the close partnership that fueled their business venture.
However, things took a dramatic turn in March 2023, when news of Sandoval’s affair with Rachel Leviss—his then-girlfriend Ariana Madix’s close friend—shattered both personal and professional ties.
Known as Scandoval, the scandal rocked their lives and reputations, sending Schwartz & Sandy’s into a spiral of bad press and waning support.
Despite attempts to rebrand and revive the bar, the fallout proved insurmountable. Now, a year and a half later, the co-owners have made the difficult decision to close their doors for good.
Tom Schwartz broke the news to fans on Instagram, sharing a heartfelt post alongside a carousel of memories from the bar. “There’s no easy way to say this,” he wrote. “But after careful consideration, Greg, Tom, and I made the decision to close Schwartz & Sandy’s by the end of the year.”
In his message, Schwartz encouraged fans to visit the bar before its final goodbye. “Let’s end this era on a high note … Come on by, bring your friends … Let’s manifest together a kick-ass New Year.”
Schwartz also reflected on the emotional journey of running the bar, saying, “There’s some peace in knowing I gave my absolute all into S&S … To all the patrons who came in & supported us, showed me love every single night I was in there, you kept me going through some of the harder times … [It] has been a true honor.”
Schwartz’s post included a touching clip from the series finale of Cheers, where Ted Danson’s character, bar owner Sam Malone, takes one last look at his bar, chuckling, “Well, I’ll tell ya. I’m the luckiest son of a bitch on Earth.”
The sentiment echoed the bittersweet end of Schwartz & Sandy’s, marking the conclusion of a chapter that once held so much promise.
