A Trailblazer in Tech
Bozoma, affectionately called “Boz” by her peers, has long been a trailblazer in the corporate world. From her time as Netflix’s CMO to senior leadership roles at Uber, Apple Music, and PepsiCo, she has consistently shattered barriers. In an industry where diversity often feels like an afterthought, Bozoma has made it her mission to create spaces for underrepresented voices — particularly Black women.
“I walk into the room, and very rarely does it look like, you know, anyone who reflects my community or my friends or my circle,” she explained in a recent interview. “And so I decided, you know, hell, focus group of one, team of one, I’m going to just hire myself again and again and again and again and again.”
Championing Diversity One Hire at a Time
Bozoma’s bold approach to hiring in tech has made headlines in the past. She recounts how she took a hands-on approach to diversifying the workforce.
“If I want to increase the numbers of diversity or especially Black women in tech, I’m going to do it myself,” she said. “As I looked at the resumes that were not diverse candidates, I just started pulling from my group of friends. Started pitching them. And I was like, ‘Girl, what you doing today? You like your job? You don’t like your job.’”
Her efforts didn’t go unnoticed. Bozoma recalls the reactions when she began hiring more Black women. “The first Black woman I hired, it was like, ‘Okay, great, fantastic.’ Oh, we didn’t even know she existed. I was like, ‘I know, I got her.’”
But her intentional focus on hiring diverse candidates soon sparked questions from HR.
“By the time the fourth one came along, I got the call, which was like, ‘Is there anything wrong with the candidates that we are sending you?’ And I was like, ‘No, totally fine.’ They’re like, ‘Well, it seems as if you’re hiring a certain type of person.’ And I was like, ‘Yes, you are correct.’”
Bozoma’s sharp response to HR’s concern showed her fearless determination to challenge the status quo. “Did you tell homeboy down the hall that? Did you tell him that he shouldn’t hire any more white men? Because I don’t think so.”
Bringing Authenticity to RHOBH
Bozoma’s entry into The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is poised to bring a new level of authenticity and empowerment to the series. Known for her bold style and outspoken nature, she’s ready to share her journey with viewers and, undoubtedly, challenge traditional notions of what it means to be a “housewife.”
As the first Black cast member on RHOBH since Garcelle Beauvais, Bozoma’s addition reflects a growing demand for more inclusive representation in reality TV. With her impressive résumé and fearless attitude, she’s sure to be a standout on Season 14.
A Global Inspiration
Beyond her professional achievements, Bozoma Saint John is also a celebrated author and public speaker. Her memoir, The Urgent Life, delves into her personal experiences with love, loss, and resilience, further cementing her as a source of inspiration for women around the world.
As fans gear up for the new season of RHOBH, one thing is certain: Bozoma Saint John is here to disrupt, inspire, and keep it real. Whether she’s navigating corporate boardrooms or the drama-filled dinner tables of Beverly Hills, she’s doing it her way — and we can’t wait to watch.
