Vanderpump Rules star Lisa Vanderpump is reportedly being pushed out of her own show as Bravo seeks to reduce her involvement in filming. Since the series premiered in 2013, Lisa has served as an executive producer, but her role has evolved significantly in recent years. Once the centerpiece of the show, Lisa now finds herself in a diminished capacity, raising eyebrows among fans and insiders alike.

As the show prepares for its upcoming season, a Hollywood insider revealed that Lisa’s screen time has decreased considerably. “For the past season, they’ve been trying to minimize her contact with the show,” the insider disclosed. “That’s Bravo’s doing. That’s nothing to do with the cast.” This shift is particularly notable given that the original cast members were predominantly employed at Lisa’s SUR restaurant in West Hollywood, but many have since ventured off to pursue their own careers.

Cast Dynamics After Scandoval

The aftermath of Tom Sandoval’s cheating scandal, which shook the foundation of the show, has also contributed to the evolving dynamics among the cast. With relationships strained, the current cast no longer appears as close-knit as before. “Ariana [Madix] refuses to film with her ex [Tom], and the show needs new stars,” the insider noted. This tumultuous backdrop has prompted Bravo to reconsider how to best move forward with the series, particularly as it heads into Season 12.

In the past, Vanderpump was seen engaging with the stars at her home, offering guidance and wisdom. However, recent seasons have shown her interacting less, creating speculation about her future with the show. The source added, “She’s at like a guest star level now on Vanderpump Rules. It’s a lot less money,” indicating that her compensation has also taken a hit as her presence has diminished.

Financial Strains and Demotions

According to Thea de Sousa, author of The Unofficial Vanderpump Rules Ultimate Trivia Book, financial pressures have also contributed to Bravo’s strategy to minimize Lisa’s role. “The show is becoming too expensive, as cast members get a pay bump every season, and the likes of Ariana make around $600,000 a year,” she explained. “The only way to reduce their pay is to ‘demote’ them, so they have less airtime on the show.”

De Sousa elaborated on the precarious financial situation Bravo is facing: “So now we’re up to Season 12, so you can imagine how completely just underwater Bravo is in terms of paying this cast, and that’s been the issue since spring. They had to start negotiating with people and trying to move people down from maybe main cast member to ‘friend of,’ which they had tried to do a couple of seasons before.”

A Potential Spin-Off and Future Plans

Interestingly, there were plans to create a spin-off centered around Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz’s bar, Schwartz and Sandy’s, but those plans have been postponed multiple times. “It was supposed to be cameras up mid-October and that’s already been postponed. So, that’s happened about three times now where they’ve said, ‘Okay, we’re almost ready,’ but they have not greenlit,” De Sousa noted.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding her role, Lisa remains optimistic about the future of *Vanderpump Rules*. Earlier this year, she expressed her belief that the show would continue, laughing as she told The U.S. Sun, “Take a breath, we’ll be back.”

She noted how caught off guard she was by the scandal, saying, “I think that’s why people felt cheated when they found out this had happened, and that they didn’t know, because normally we know more than we want to.”
