Todd Chrisley Fired From Prison Chapel Job For Fraternizing With Inmates!
Todd Chrisley, currently serving time at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola, has been removed from his position as Assistant to the Chaplain.
His attorney, Jay Surgent, shared with PEOPLE that Todd was removed for “associating with inmates” in the prison’s Residential Drug Abuse Program. While Todd is “disappointed” and no longer has access to his chapel office, Surgent emphasized that Todd believes “God will work things out” for him and his family. Despite ongoing legal battles, Todd remains optimistic, and his attorney continues to contest the prison’s decision.
Todd Chrisley Removed from Chaplain Duties
Reality star Todd Chrisley, best known from Chrisley Knows Best, has had his duties as Assistant to the Chaplain at Federal Prison Camp Pensacola revoked. According to his attorney, Jay Surgent, the 55-year-old was allegedly removed for “associating with inmates” in the Residential Drug Abuse Program. This decision came as a surprise to Todd, who had been working in the chapel, helping set up religious services for Christian, Jewish, and Muslim inmates.
Todd Feels He Was Removed “Without Cause”
Surgent, speaking on behalf of Todd, mentioned that the reality star is “very disappointed and upset,” over the decision, especially since it has disrupted his ability to participate in religious services. Todd feels that his removal was “without cause,” but he remains hopeful, expressing his faith that “God will work things out” for him and his family.
Todd and Julie’s Legal Woes
Todd’s removal from the chaplain position adds to the list of legal troubles the Chrisley family has faced in recent years. Todd and his wife, Julie Chrisley, were sentenced to a combined 19 years in prison after being convicted on 12 counts of tax evasion, fraud, and conspiracy. Despite appealing their case, the couple reported to prison in January 2023.
Sentence Reductions and Ongoing Legal Battles
In September 2023, both Todd and Julie received reductions in their prison sentences. Todd’s new release date is now set for June 26, 2032, while Julie’s is April 22, 2028, after a judge ruled that her seven-year sentence would stand. Though their legal challenges continue, Todd and Julie have leaned on their faith throughout the ordeal. Todd’s removal from his prison job, however, was a tough blow.
Savannah Chrisley’s Heartfelt Reflections
Their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, has been open about her family’s struggles. In an August episode of her Unlocked podcast, she shared her mixed emotions. “I’m trying not to get my hopes up because… a lot of things within this legal battle have not gone our way,” she admitted. Still, Savannah remains hopeful for any small victory, adding, “Anything better than that is a win.”
The Chrisley family’s legal journey continues to unfold, but Todd remains steadfast in his belief that justice will prevail.
