‘RHOSLC’ Star Mary Cosby’s Son IN REHAB For Cocaine and Fentanyl Addiction
Robert Cosby Jr., son of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Mary Cosby, has been residing outside his mother’s home while receiving treatment at an inpatient facility in California.
This came after Robert missed his court date for a 2022 DUI case, with his attorney confirming that he entered rehab. Robert, who tested positive for cocaine, fentanyl, and THC earlier in the year, is required to appear in court for his next hearing in November.
Missed Court Dates Lead to Rehab
Robert, 21, briefly appeared on the September 25 episode of RHOSLC before being admitted to rehab. He had missed an August court date for his ongoing DUI case, with his attorney informing the judge that Robert was in treatment. His court appearance was rescheduled multiple times, with a final hearing set for November. Robert’s attorney, however, has not provided further details about his treatment facility.
The missed court date follows several prior instances where Robert had failed to comply with court orders, including not completing mandatory substance abuse treatments. In court records obtained by The U.S. Sun, Robert had previously completed a 10-day detox and a Victim Impact Panel course but failed to submit proof of completing additional court-ordered programs.
Ongoing Struggles and Substance Abuse
Robert’s DUI charge stems from a March 2022 incident when he was stopped by police after improperly disposing of beer cans. During the stop, Robert admitted to officers that while he had not been drinking, he had previously taken oxycontin, Xanax, and smoked marijuana. After failing sobriety tests, Robert was charged with DUI and driving with a suspended license. While Robert pleaded guilty to the DUI, other charges were dismissed in September 2022.
Reports reveal that Robert’s counselors filed a report in July 2023, noting he had been non-compliant with previous court orders and that his drug tests showed positive results for cocaine, fentanyl, and THC. Though Robert initially planned to enter a rehab facility in May 2024, he did not provide proof until the summer, leading to delays in court proceedings.
Family Life and Marriage
Amid his legal troubles, Robert has been living with his wife, Alexiana, at his parent’s mansion. The couple married in August 2022, though Mary Cosby only learned about the wedding a year later, as revealed in Season 4 of RHOSLC. Mary has opened up about Robert’s sheltered upbringing, admitting during last week’s episode that she doesn’t mind him living at home and even provides him with financial support.
“Robert is currently at home right now. He’s not in college. Robert does ask me for money and no, he’s not working. But I just feel like he’s very sheltered and I feel like that’s my fault,” Mary confessed during the episode.
Heart-to-Heart With Mary
Fans of RHOSLC will get to see more of Robert’s journey this season, as he has an emotional conversation with his mother. In the preview for Season 5, Mary is seen tearing up while expressing her fear of losing her son, telling Robert, “Do you know how that would kill me if something ever happened to you?” Robert responds, “I just felt like a stain,” to which Mary replies, “I love you more than anything.”
As Robert Cosby Jr continues to work through his legal issues and recovery, his journey will play out on the show. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Bravo.
