RECAP: ‘Sister Wives’ Robyn Keeps Her Kids FAR Away From The Brown Clan!
In the September 29 episode of Sister Wives, Kody describes the family dynamic as a “civil war,” after reuniting at a wedding. Christine and Robyn come together in the waiting room as Mykelti gives birth to her twins. Later, during a game night with Robyn and their children, Kody reflects on his three failed marriages.
Dreading the Reunion: Pre-Wedding Jitters
Sunday night’s episode starts with Kody, Christine, and Robyn Brown all dreading the thought of seeing each other at an upcoming family wedding. Christine Brown reflects on Aspyn’s wedding, remembering how the family was once close, but now? Well, not so much. Christine expects it to be awkward but manageable. “It’ll be awkward, but okay,” she says. Meanwhile, Kody Brown is less optimistic. “I feel like Janelle and Christine trash me all the time, and I’m sick of it,” Kody laments, setting the stage for some serious tension. Kody is clearly not over the Ysabel graduation debacle, the last time they all saw each other.
At the wedding, the family divide was palpable, with Christine and Janelle Brown sticking together and Kody and Robyn keeping their distance. Meri? She was floating somewhere in the middle but was largely ignored by both sides. “It was strange,” says Janelle about Kody’s half-hearted “hi” in passing. Kody jokingly adds that he and Robyn were “put in the corner for safety.” He claims to have tried to mingle, but it was “odd.” The family rift has clearly taken its toll, with Kody concluding:
“Overall, the whole wedding was just sad for me,” he said of the occasion, which was not captured by the cameras. “We used to go places as a family and now it’s like those who were my partners are now almost like enemies. It’s awkward. I don’t know what the solution is.”
“For Christine and I, I think that if we would have just broken up as friends, it would have been better for the whole family,” he continued to tell the cameras. “Like, make it so we can get back together another time instead of polarizing everybody.”
Kody then says that he and Meri are “officially broken up.”
Kody’s Perfect (Selective) Day-to-Day
In another scene, we’re treated to a cozy game night at Kody and Robyn’s house. Kody boasts, “My day-to-day is a nice family experience perpetually,” as if the rest of the family drama doesn’t exist. Robyn, however, admits that her younger kids are mostly unaware of what’s really happening. She’s practically erasing the memories of their siblings from their minds. Robyn claims she tries to reach out to other family members, but they’ve been ghosting her. Kody, of course, takes this moment to reflect on his failed marriages, lamenting how hard it’s been for Robyn’s kids to adjust.
Mykelti’s Twin Journey and C-Section Confession
Meanwhile, Mykelti is all about her pregnancy with twins, Archer Banks and Ace McCord. The 28-year-old daughter of Christine and Kody drops a major bombshell: “I’m ready to be done. This is the last time I will ever — hopefully, knock on wood — this is the last time I will ever be pregnant again.”
In a confessional, Mykelti adds, “Pregnancy is miserable. It is literally awful.” Tell us how you really feel, Mykelti!
Mykelti opens up about her C-section plans and says she’s “come to terms,” with not having a vaginal birth, though she’s not thrilled. Christine, ever the doting mom, gets excited at the idea of watching the procedure, asking, “But you’ll be able to see it, too, they were saying?” Mykelti corrects her, “I’ll have a curtain over in front of my face, but Doctor Bean did say that he would put a mirror down there so if I wanted to, I could.” Christine is ecstatic at the prospect, exclaiming, “Sign me up for that!”
Christine and Robyn: United for the Grandbabies
Despite their ongoing feud, Christine and Robyn come together for the birth of Mykelti’s twins. Mykelti is thankful to have both her “moms,” by her side. “They’re not here for each other. They’re not here for anybody else. They’re here for me,” she says, acknowledging how special this moment is for her.
Robyn recalls holding her grandson Archer for the first time, while Christine held Ace. “We were just holding our grandbabies together,” she says tearfully.
Robyn gets emotional as she reflects on the moment, admitting, “I just wish it was under different circumstances as far as Christine and I are concerned. And it was kind of sweet because for a moment, I could just forget all that.” It’s a rare instance of unity between the two, but as always, the family drama is lurking just beneath the surface.
Sister Wives season 19 airs Sunday nights, at 10pm EST, on TLC.
