Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Garcelle Beauvais has spoken up to defend the Haitian community after harmful and rumors circulated about Haitian immigrants.

In a heartfelt Instagram video, Garcelle expressed her frustration over the baseless claims made by former President Donald Trump and his running mate, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, alleging that Haitian immigrants in Ohio were eating dogs and cats.

Standing Against Racism and Hate

“Staying silent in the face of racism and hate is something that I refuse to do,” Garcelle passionately said. The actress, who moved from Haiti to the United States before making her Hollywood debut, voiced her frustration with the lies that have targeted her community. She described these rumors as “disgusting, deeply hurtful, and dangerous,” calling for an end to the perpetuation of such hateful rhetoric.

Garcelle, along with the Haitian community, has been deeply affected by the rumors, which were sparked in early September when Sen. Vance claimed immigrants were eating pets in Springfield, Ohio. During the September 10 presidential debate, Trump echoed these unfounded allegations. Despite immediate pushback from Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and debate moderators, who clarified there was “no evidence” to support the claims, the damage had been done. Threats against the Haitian community surged, both in Ohio and online.
