RECAP: ‘Sister Wives’ Season 19 Premiere – Kody Struggles Financially as His Marriage to Robyn On the Verge of Collapse!

The season premiere of Sister Wives Season 19 wasted no time diving into the ongoing drama surrounding Kody Brown and his multiple fractured marriages. With only Robyn Brown left by his side, Kody opened up about the dissolution of his other relationships and the overwhelming stress he’s facing — particularly when it comes to Coyote Pass.

Coyote Pass Drama: Kody Wants Out, Robyn Can’t Let Go

The Season 19 premiere of Sister Wives kicks off with Kody Brown reflecting on the collapse of all his marriages — except his relationship with Robyn. As Kody and Robyn walk around Coyote Pass, the looming balloon mortgage payment becomes the center of their conversation. Kody is visibly stressed about their lack of funds, especially now that Christine Brown, Meri Brown, and Janelle Brown’s incomes no longer contribute to his financial stability. His solution? Sell the property and move on.

However, Robyn is determined to hold onto the land, heartbroken at the thought of letting it go. While Kody views Coyote Pass as a painful reminder of his divorces and financial demise, Robyn offers selfish suggestion: Maybe Meri would still be interested in building on the property. Her plan? Use Meri’s income to keep her dream alive, despite Kody telling Meri he never loved her and wants nothing to do with her. Unsurprisingly, Kody is not on board with Meri’s involvement.

Janelle’s Final Straw

As for Janelle, she has completely moved on from her marriage to Kody. In a candid moment, Janelle revealed that the breaking point in their relationship was Kody’s treatment of the children they share. Sister Wives fans are well aware that ever since Kody shifted his focus primarily to his family with Robyn, he has grown increasingly distant from his other children outside of Robyn’s household. This estrangement ultimately led Janelle to realize that their marriage was beyond repair.

Mykelti’s Baby Shower: A Tense Family Reunion

Meanwhile, the family gathers to celebrate Mykelti’s baby shower, where she’s expecting twins. With a fun Vegas casino theme, the event should have been all joy, but the family dynamics quickly brought tension. Notably, Meri wasn’t invited, and while Janelle had been invited, she couldn’t make it. Christine, on the other hand, expressed her nerves ahead of the event, knowing that both Kody and Robyn would likely attend. She hadn’t seen either of them in months since leaving Kody, and the anticipation was palpable.

“I will do anything for Mykelti, and Mykelti wants Kody and Robyn at her sprinkle,” Christine shared. “So, of course, they can come to the sprinkle.”

Christine didn’t hide her anxiety, admitting:

“I am a little nervous about seeing them. I am nervous.” She further reflected, “I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ll be seeing them after I left. I mean, Kody was furious the last time that he spoke to me, and we haven’t talked since.”

Kody, too, felt the tension, despite his excitement to celebrate his daughter. Both he and Robyn admitted to being “terribly nervous” about seeing Christine, with Kody explaining, “mostly because, well, I haven’t seen Christine in months.”

As they arrived, the atmosphere shifted.

“I can’t fake this off,” Kody admitted. “Seeing her, there’s so much animosity. It’s all something that embarrasses me because I think it’s all very childish.”

Robyn, echoing the discomfort, shared:

“I’m a little nervous going to this baby shower. The last time I saw Christine was when she told us that she didn’t want a relationship with me and my kids.”

With the baby sprinkle’s gambling theme in full swing, Christine joked to guests, suggesting they “take our bets,” on “whether or not we’re actually all going to get along in the same place.”

From the moment Kody and Robyn arrived, they kept their distance from Christine. Robyn later explained:

“I can’t speak for Kody and Christine, but I kept my distance and did not greet Christine because she told me she didn’t want a relationship and I don’t want to push myself on her. I want to have any relationship that I can have, but it takes two.”

Christine, fully aware of the distance, responded, “I’m not going to necessarily say hi. That would be disingenuous.” She added, “That would mean I was going to be friends and friendly, and I’m not. I’m not going to be friendly.”

Christine then realized something crucial about the dynamic at the party.

“Seeing Kody and Robyn at the party, I realized all of a sudden that this was more awkward for them. They’re outsiders here, not me,” she said.

Kody, speaking separately, admitted, “I just don’t want to talk to her. I don’t want to see her. She doesn’t want to see me, I’m sure, either.”

Kody and Robyn’s Marriage In Trouble

Reflecting on the difficult period he’s been in since his separations from Christine, Meri and Janelle Kody acknowledged that Christine seemed to be “in a good place because she’s moved out” and “moved on.” However, Kody revealed that his relationship with Robyn was now strained, “Robyn and I are really kind of in a struggling place.”

Robyn, in her confessional, added, “We’re probably doing the worst we’ve ever done in our marriage. It’s been tough. It’s been tough between us.” She explained Kody’s sense of rejection, saying, “He doesn’t know who to blame, himself or one of the other wives. Kody’s feeling a lot of rejection. I think he’s kind of looking at me going, ‘Are you going to reject me too?’ So, I’m on my toes. I’m having to consistently make sure that he is not sabotaging our relationship.”

Isabel’s Move, Kody Feels Left Out

Isabel is moving from North Carolina to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah and be closer to her mom, Christine. Janelle and Christine help pack up for the three-day journey, reflecting on their strengthened relationship. Janelle admits she hasn’t seen Kody in months and doesn’t miss him, while Kody learns about the move from producers and feels excluded. Frustrated, Kody throws shade at Christine and Janelle’s bond, expressing that they’ve intentionally left him out, feeding into his FOMO (fear of missing out).

Meri Opens Up About the End of Her Marriage

In Las Vegas, Meri visits her friend Brandi and reveals that her relationship with Kody is officially over. Brandi, who has long thought Kody was a jerk, is supportive of the separation. During their conversation, Meri shares a painful memory from their 32nd wedding anniversary. She explains that they spent the day driving around and talking, only for Kody to confess that he never really loved her and had been forcing his affection for 32 years. “It was cruel,” Meri says, reflecting on how everything went downhill after their move to Flagstaff.

Brandi suggests that Kody is going through a mid-life crisis and had not treated Meri well, while noting that Robyn must be having a hard time with the changes. Meri acknowledges that Kody will likely be upset with her for revealing the truth about their relationship in her segments, but Brandi reassures her, saying she’s relieved because Kody has treated Meri poorly for years.

Meri expresses feeling deceived by Kody, but she’s determined to get her fair share of Coyote Pass. Despite everything, Meri insists she doesn’t believe Robyn has a bad heart, though it’s been hard to navigate their relationship now that she’s leaving the family.

Family Tensions Continue as Isabel Settles In

Back in Utah at Christine’s house, Isabel and the moving crew arrive safely and gather in the living room for a chat. During a talking head confessional, Janelle reveals that Kody and their daughter Maddie no longer have a relationship. Kody, however, chooses not to comment in his talking head confessional. Maddie has made it clear that she wants nothing to do with Kody or Robyn unless her father is willing to commit to a genuine reconciliation plan.

Christine Brown

Mykelti expresses her sadness over the fractured state of the family, reflecting on how things have deteriorated compared to when Robyn first joined the Brown clan.

Maddie Brown

As the discussion continues, Maddie shares that she’s considering a move to Montana, and Janelle hints that she may follow suit, given her desire to distance herself from Kody and life in Flagstaff.
