The Valley star took to Instagram on September 2 to reveal that he has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD.

In his emotional post, Jax shared a black and white photo of himself reading on the couch, alongside a heartfelt caption detailing his experience. “A little over a month ago, I checked into an intensive inpatient treatment facility, scared of the unknown and what I would find out about myself,” he began.

“After many years of knowing something was wrong but not knowing exactly what it was, I recently learned that I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and PTSD.”

Jax admitted that processing his diagnosis has been a challenging and emotional time for him. However, he expressed a sense of optimism and newfound peace, especially when returning home to his son, Cruz Michael Cauchi.

“It’s been a lot to process, but I’ve come home to my son with a newfound sense of peace. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t scared for the future, but my focus is just trying to be a better version of myself than I was yesterday,” he continued.

He also emphasized the importance of mental health and the ongoing effort required to manage it. “Mental health is a lifelong battle of not letting it control you but rather learning to control it,” Jax wrote, highlighting the importance of working through his challenges.

Jax’s revelation about his diagnosis comes a month after news broke that the Vanderpump Rules alum had checked into a treatment facility for mental health issues.

On July 31, Jax shared a touching Instagram post of himself holding his son, writing, “Working on getting better for you and myself buddy, I love you.”

After spending 30 days in treatment, a representative for Jax confirmed to People on August 19 that he was preparing to return home.

Jax has spent the last 30 days in treatment and will be heading back home later this week,” the rep said, adding that he was most excited to reunite with his son.

However, just days after Jax returned from treatment, his wife, Brittany Cartwright, filed for divorce. The couple, who had been married for less than five years, separated in February 2024.

For now, Jax is focused on his journey to better mental health and spending quality time with his son as he navigates this new chapter of his life.
