An Artist Claims Claims Nicki Minaj Refused to Be Included in Spotify’s Art Exhibit for Female Rappers

Spotify recently unveiled their “Gold Standard Exhibition,” a showcase celebrating some of the most talented women in hip-hop. However, the exhibit has sparked discussion due to the noticeable absence of Nicki Minaj.

Spotify’s official TikTok account shared a sneak peek of the exhibition, describing it as “a fine art show dedicated to the current golden era of women in hip-hop.” The display features portraits of artists that are popular in today’s female rap.

The artist behind the exhibit expressed excitement about the project in an Instagram post. “A month and a half earlier I was contacted by @spotify to create 11 portraits and a general composition for the exhibition << Gold Standard >>,” the artist wrote.

“This was to be my first solo exhibition!! I was honored to draw portraits of City Girls, Doja Cat, Flo Milli, GloRilla, Ice Spice, Latto, Megan Thee Stallion, Saweetie, and Sexyy Red. The exhibition was held @theholenyc in New York and I can’t wait to share a little more of this adventure with you in the days to come,” the artist states.

The painter also addressed the absence of Nicki Minaj from the lineup, stating, “P.S. don’t come after me in my DMs, Nicki didn’t want to be part of the show.”

The exclusion of Nicki Minaj prompted a wave of reactions on social media, with fans expressing mixed opinions.

One user commented, “Why would Nicki want to be a part of that when her opps are there?” Another added, “I don’t blame Nicki, these girls have to sell their a** now to get people to listen, Nicki never did that.”

Some fans voiced disappointment with the selection of artists featured in the exhibit. “This lineup sucks and they need to make one featuring just the rap queens and have Missy Elliott, Lil’ Kim, Nicki Minaj, and more women who actually made an impact in rap and don’t need ghostwriters,” one person remarked.

Nicki has always moved to the beat of her own drum. She doesn’t need to be in every lineup to prove her influence. Respect to her for knowing her worth and making her own choices,” one fan said.

Nicki is on a different level—she doesn’t need to be validated by every exhibit. She’s already made history and will continue to do so, with or without this event,” a fan reveals.

“It’s disappointing that Nicki chose not to be part of this. She helped pave the way for these women, and it would’ve been great to see her included,” someone added.

A barb spoke out about how they feel, saying, “It’s a shame Nicki didn’t participate. She’s always talking about unity among women in the industry, but actions speak louder than words. Before y’all drag me, I am a barb.”
