’16 and Pregnant’ Alum Dead at 27 Under Suspicious Circumstances

Autumn Crittendon, known from MTV’s 16 and Pregnant, has tragically passed away at the age of 27. The news was shared by her sister, Misty, in a heartfelt Facebook post on Sunday, July 21.

Autumn, who appeared on season 5 of the reality show, is survived by her three children, including one born during her time on the show.

In her emotional tribute, Misty reflected on the profound loss, saying, “You were robbed of your life at such a tender age, you left before anyone could tell you goodbye … how much we love you … how amazing you are and how proud we are of you for staying sober through some of the toughest parts of your life.” Misty praised Autumn for her resilience and growth, expressing gratitude for the time they had together and the legacy she leaves through her children.

Misty’s post described the harrowing moment she arrived to find her sister had passed.

“Pulling up seeing all the vehicles, an empty ambulance … and jumping out of the truck as soon as I could begging the paramedics and cops to tell me you were OK,” she wrote. Misty detailed the devastating experience of realizing her sister was gone, saying, “I went down the hall to check the rooms to make sure you weren’t hiding back there … But my worst fear was confirmed and I collapsed in the road.”

The post also shared Misty’s grief as she held onto a shirt that Autumn was wearing, “I held it so tight, I smelled it for so long as I just stood there empty, broken,” she added. Misty vowed to keep Autumn’s memory alive for her three children, stating, “We are gonna make sure these babies are okay. Your memory will not fade over time. It will live on every moment of every day.”

Autumn’s cause of death has not yet been disclosed. In a separate, since-deleted post, Misty expressed anger and heartbreak, saying:

“YOU robbed my babies of their mother. YOU robbed my mother of her baby. YOU caused a mother and father to bury their youngest child. YOU robbed my child of his other mother. YOU robbed me of my only f–king friend.”

Autumn Crittendon first appeared on 16 and Pregnant in 2014, documenting her journey as a 16-year-old high school sophomore from Richmond, Virginia. Her storyline focused on her struggles with then-boyfriend Dustin Franklin, who was initially jobless and continued smoking marijuana despite their impending parenthood. Their son, Drake Franklin, was born on December 17, 2013, and the couple’s issues over financial support were highlighted on the show.

Following her appearance on 16 and Pregnant, Autumn welcomed two more children, Abigail and Luke. Despite the challenges she faced, Autumn’s story remained one of perseverance and personal growth. Her family, friends, and fans will remember her for her courage and the love she had for her children.
