Shannon Beador Emotionally Apologizes to Her Daughters for DUI Incident
In an emotionally charged moment captured on The Real Housewives of Orange County, Shannon Beador opened up to her daughters about her recent DUI arrest during the first seven minutes of the Season 18 premiere, which Bravo released early this Tuesday.
The 60-year-old reality star was visibly moved to tears as she expressed her regrets to Sophie, 22, and twins Stella and Adeline, 19.
“I mean, I took Sophie to college, I took Adeline to college and your dad took you,” Shannon recounted to Stella, who was studying in Paris when the incident occurred.
“So it was my intent to come and visit you,” she continued, “and because of my mistakes, I wasn’t able to come, and I feel bad.”
Beador’s emotional turmoil was palpable as she added, “I’m so sorry and humiliated that I disappointed you. Like, what kind of example am I at 59 years old?”
Her daughters responded with empathy and support. Stella assured her, “We’re glad that you’re OK and that no one was hurt.”
Sophie added, “And that you take accountability for your actions, and you learn from them and you grow.”
Reflecting on the incident, Shannon shared, “I’ve never broken a bone, I’ve never had a concussion, I’ve never been in an accident, I’ve never been arrested, I’ve never had a DUI, and I did all that in 10 seconds.”
Sophie recognized the gravity of the situation but also saw a bigger picture: “It sucks,” she acknowledged, “but it happened for a reason.”
Beador remained hopeful, believing in a divine plan. “God has a plan,” she asserted. “I absolutely believe that.”
The reality star also recounted her actions leading to the arrest in a later confessional. After driving to her ex-boyfriend John Janssen’s house and having a heated argument, Shannon tried to leave dramatically, which led to the accident.
“But I got in an accident a second later because I revved up the engine so he could know how mad I was,” she explained. “And I lost control of the car immediately.”
Following the arrest, Beador did face significant consequences, including three years of probation, 40 hours of community service, and a nine-month alcohol program.
Despite her public apology and commitment to recovery, fellow cast member Tamra Judge expressed skepticism.
She claimed to have seen Shannon sneak alcohol into her cup at a comedy show shortly after the incident, despite Shannon’s assertions to the public and press that she wasn’t drinking.
This lapse led to Tamra losing respect for Beador, who she felt could have caused even more harm. “She could have killed herself” or “her dog,” Judge lamented.
Shannon’s journey through her legal troubles, personal reflection, and attempts at recovery will be further explored as The Real Housewives of Orange County returns for its 18th season on July 11 on Bravo, marking another intense chapter in the lives of these iconic television personalities.
