Kelly Bensimon Ends Engagement with Scott Litner: ‘I’m Truly Shocked’

Kelly Bensimon, the former Real Housewives of New York City star, has revealed the pivotal reason behind her decision to cancel her engagement to Scott Litner just days before their scheduled wedding.

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Kelly, 56, disclosed that Scott, a wealth management consultant, declined to sign a prenuptial agreement, which she described as “the ultimate red flag.”

“I haven’t come this far in business and life to start making poor decisions because of a man,” Bensimon stated firmly. “He of all people should have understood the need to protect each other before we tied the knot. I’m truly shocked he refused a prenup.”

According to Kelly, Litner believed she would enter the marriage without legal protections, relying solely on trust and faith.

News of their split emerged on Tuesday, June 25, just four days ahead of their planned wedding in Boston. Bensimon’s representative informed Us Weekly that she was taking time to process the breakup before commenting further.

In a subsequent statement to Us, the representative conveyed Kelly’s disappointment: “Kelly is disappointed by this turn of events. She was looking forward to an exciting new chapter in her life together with Scott when everything became clear to her late on Tuesday afternoon.”

Despite the canceled wedding plans, Bensimon emphasized her focus on family, particularly her daughters Sea, 26, and Teddy, 24, from her previous marriage to Gilles Bensimon. “I have decided that my two daughters are my priority and I won’t be moving forward with this wedding,” she revealed to Page Six.

Kelly and Litner got engaged during a Fourth of July holiday in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, last year.

Reflecting on the proposal, Bensimon recounted the spontaneous moment when Scott popped the question, catching her off guard in a pink bikini. She described their engagement as genuine, unlike the staged glamour often seen in social media.

Originally planning a ceremony in Litner’s mother’s backyard in Massachusetts followed by a larger celebration in the Hamptons, Kelly and Scott’s wedding preparations had been underway, with Bensimon playfully admitting to becoming a “total bridezilla” during planning.

As she navigates this unexpected turn of events, Kelly remains focused on her family and personal priorities, marking a significant chapter in her life’s journey.
