Dutch Police Deny Racially Targeting Nicki Minaj in Arrest!
The recent arrest of Nicki Minaj in Amsterdam has sparked controversy, with the rapper alleging that her treatment by authorities was influenced by her race. However, Dutch police have refuted these claims, stating that the arrest was not racially motivated.
According to reports, Minaj was detained at Schiphol Airport last Saturday and fined 350 Euros ($380) after police discovered dozens of joints in her luggage. Expressing her frustration, Nicki criticized her treatment as “disgusting” and suggested that her race played a role in the incident.
In response, Dutch police have denied any racial bias in the arrest, emphasizing that their actions were in accordance with protocol. A spokesperson stated, “We just do our job and it is protocol to search luggage and arrest a person when we find drugs. We stand for a professional organization that treats everybody equal, no matter what.”
Despite the police’s statement, Nicki had to postpone her scheduled performance in Manchester, UK, leaving thousands of fans disappointed. Speaking about the incident on the livestreaming platform Stationhead, Nicki described the treatment she received as “disgusting” and expressed her dismay at the situation.
While Dutch prosecutors claimed that Minaj was carrying 30 to 100 grams of cannabis, the rapper argued that the “pre-rolls” belonged to her security guard. The incident has reignited discussions about racial profiling and treatment by law enforcement authorities.
In addition, Nicki Minaj’s upcoming concert in Amsterdam has been canceled in the wake of her recent arrest, according to a statement from concert promoter Mojo released on Friday, May 31.
“Due to the events of last week, the Nicki Minaj show on Sunday, 2nd June at Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam will no longer be taking place,” the statement reads. “Tickets will be refunded at the point of sale.”
Nicki Minaj, who’s 41, was set to perform as part of her Pink Friday 2 World Tour at the Ziggo Dome on Sunday. While Minaj has not directly addressed the cancellation, her last performance was in Manchester, England, on Friday.
