‘RHONY’ Alum Bethenny Frankel Accuses Jason Hoppy’s Family of Trying to Take Her Daughter Away From Her
Bethenny Frankel’s tumultuous divorce from ex-husband Jason Hoppy was a saga that lasted nearly a decade, much of it revolving around the custody battle for their daughter Brynn. Their divorce was finally settled in January 2021, but the journey was filled with challenges and emotional turmoil.
During a recent episode of her podcast, Just B Divorce, Bethenny opened up about the difficult living situation she endured with Jason during their divorce proceedings. She described it as a “carnival” and a “torture den,” emphasizing the strain it put on her and her relationship with her daughter.
“Every time I would bring Brynn home after school, like [Jason’s] parents would be there and I would just want to have her there in my bed like snuggling with me. I just wanted to be with her,” Bethenny shared, painting a picture of the discomfort she felt sharing space with her ex’s family. “His parents would come in and they’d have Mickey Mouse and his dad would have a baseball hat with like a ponytail in the back. [Or] were making cookies and you’d smell the cookies and like I couldn’t compete.”
Amidst this challenging living situation, Bethenny made efforts to create special moments with Brynn, often taking her on outings away from the home. However, she admitted feeling like she was trapped in “purgatory,” sharing the house with her ex and constantly feeling uncomfortable, even alleging that she would walk in on Jason in his “underwear.”
“That was the torture den,” she recounted. “The only, like, friend I had was like getting in the bed late at night, locking my door, and like trying to get a good night’s sleep.”
Bethenny also claimed that Jason’s parents were actively trying to undermine her relationship with Brynn, which she believes ultimately led to her becoming the “less favored parent.”
The stress of the situation took a toll on Bethenny, who described it as a “nightmare” to juggle her personal life with her professional commitments, including her talk show. Despite advice from lawyers and judges to stay put, Frankel eventually made the decision to move out of the home.
Later, Frankel made shocking revelations about discovering her private emails on Jason’s computer and alleged surveillance by a private detective. Multiple assistants who worked for Frankel testified in court, providing further evidence to support her claims.
