Sheree Whitfield Axed: ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ Season 16 Cast Update
The cast for season 16 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta has been officially announced, featuring a blend of familiar faces and new additions.
Returning housewives Kenya Moore and Drew Sidora will be joined by Porsha Williams, who makes her comeback after a two-season hiatus. Williams‘ return coincides with a new talent deal with NBCUniversal, offering her opportunities in both scripted and unscripted projects. “I’m incredibly thankful for the vision and faith NBCUniversal has put in me to be a larger part of their family,” Williams stated. “I’m looking forward to being back on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and showing the world my new world!”
The refreshed lineup includes author and businesswoman Brittany Eady, Food Network alum Kelli Ferrell, and Angela Oakley, wife of NBA legend Charles Oakley. Additionally, long-time show associate Shamea Morton Mwangi has been promoted to a full-time Housewife, while supermodel Cynthia Bailey returns in a friend role.
The series is set to start production this month, with the premiere scheduled for 2025. Departing the show are Shereé Whitfield, Marlo Hampton, and Sanya Richards-Ross, with Kandi Burruss also stepping away after 14 years to focus on new ventures. “I put myself on pause,” Burruss revealed, expressing her desire to explore other opportunities.
As the show aims to revitalize its appeal, executive producer Andy Cohen expressed optimism about the updated cast at BravoCon 2023. “We’ve got some amazing new gals, and this is gonna feel very positive about the new season of Atlanta,” Cohen commented on his Radio Andy SiriusXM channel, hinting at a promising future for the series.
