‘Sister Wives’ Garrison Brown’s Siblings Devastated by His Passing: “Our Hearts Shattered”

Garrison Brown’s siblings are speaking out about the tragic death of their brother, who sadly took his own life last week at the age of 25. Garrison, the son of Sister Wives exes, Janelle and Kody Brown, was one of six children. 

On Sunday, Garrison’s sister, Maddie Brown, took to Instagram to post a touching tribute that included a photo of her brother with her children. 

“My words seem to fall short,” she wrote. “Our hearts our broken and we are now swallowed with the love now left behind for this beautiful brother. God be with you till we meet again. I’ll see you at the gates of Valhalla, feasting with our ancestors who battled before you. Until then, we must live in a more gray world without the light you brought.”

The 28-year-old included a quote that read — “Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give but cannot. All the unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hallow of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.”

Gwendlyn Brown, daughter of Kody and Christine Brown, reposted Maddie’s sentiment on her Instagram Story, adding—“Uncle bob in his natural element ❤️,” giving a nod to Garrison’s birth name, Robert. 

Robert Garrison Brown was found dead on Tuesday, March 5 at his Flagstaff, Arizona home. Garrison’s brother, Gabriel Brown, reportedly found his sibling, and Flagstaff police later determined that he had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. 

Gabe told officers that Garrison “had been struggling with mental health concerns and alcohol abuse.”

Kody and Janelle announced the heartbreaking news via a joint Instagram statement, on Tuesday. 

“Janelle and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy Robert Garrison Brown,” the statement read. “He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him. Our loss will leave such a big hole in our lives, that it takes our breath away. We ask that you please respect our privacy and join us in honoring his memory.”

Garrison and Maddie’s siblings include Logan, 29, Hunter, 27, Gabriel, 22, and Savanah, 19. 

Mykelti Brown, daughter of Kody and Christine, shared the family’s statement and added “I love you bro,” on her Tuesday Instagram Story. 

Kody and Janelle announced their decision to separate in 2022, after a 30-year spiritual marriage. The split, which came after Christine’s breakup from the famed polygamist, was partially due to Kody’s fractured relationships with several of his kids, most notably Garrison and Gabriel.  

In November 2023, Janelle shared her hope for eventual peace between her children and their father, in an interview with Us Weekly. 

“I feel like when there’s static in relationships, especially in a parental relationship, it does affect your life,” she told the outlet. “It does affect them when they don’t have a good [relationship] with their dad. So, I’m hoping that in the future, things can get better.”

The following month, Janelle revealed that progress had been made and that her ex “does have somewhat of a relationship with Garrison right now.”

Garrison appeared outwardly upbeat as recently as late February, when he shared that he had adopted a new cat. 

“Newest edition to my home, Ms Buttons,” Garrison wrote on Instagram last month, alongside snaps of his new pet mixing with his other cats. “She’s 9 years old and was on the line for euthanasia but my savior complex couldn’t suffice. #crazycatlady.”
