Shannon Sharpe Katt Williams Interview Earnings Revealed: Biggest Payday in Podcast History!
Shannon Sharpe raked in big bucks interviewing comedian, Katt Williams, earlier this year.
The NFL Hall of Famer recently told Nightcap host, Chad Johnson, that he made more money interviewing the comic than playing any single season in the NFL.
“Everybody was talking about how much money I made doing the Katt Williams interview,” Sharpe said. “I just got the check. So whatever you think I made, 3x it. So if you think I made $500,000, 3x it. If you think I made a million, 3x it. If you think I made $2 million, 3x it.
He reiterated — “I made more money on Katt Williams alone than I made in any year that I played the NFL.”
The three-hour “Club Shay Shay” podcast interview has topped 61 million views on YouTube.
Sharpe earned $22.3 million during his fifteen season career in the NFL, per Sportac. Sharpe, who played for the Denver Broncos and the Baltimore Ravens, earned $2.2 million in 1999, his highest base salary for a single season. His 2000 signing bonus led to an increased payday the following year.
Sharpe’s accolades include three Super Bowl titles, four First-Team All-Pro selections and eight Pro Bowl nods.
Katt Williams, 52, began his rise to fame when he starred in film, “Friday After Next” with Ice Cube, Mike Epps, John Witherspoon, Terry Crews and Rickey Smiley.
Williams launched his comedy career after moving to Los Angeles in 1999. He performed in clubs such as The Improv and Ice House. He got his break in “Friday After Next,” which opened the door to greater opportunities.
His first comedy special, “Let a Playa Play,” aired in 2006, followed by HBO special, “The Pimp Chronicles Part 1.” He went on to star in multiple film and TV projects and appeared in Netflix comedy special, “World War lll.”
He accused Cedric of ripping off his “best joke,” and Harvey of stealing the concept for the “The Steve Harvey Show” from comedian, Mark Curry, during the bombshell interview.
Shocked listeners took to social media to applaud Williams for his candor, with one person writing — “I like how Shannon allowed him to speak his mind. Outstanding content! Katt spoke with conviction!”
Another user commented — “So honest, love Katt Williams, speak your truth.”
A third remarked — “Katt went full on Scorched Earth mode… this one gone ruffle plenty of feathers!!”
