Child Protective Services Case Against Jenelle Evans and David Eason Dismissed
The Child Protective Services case involving Teen Mom 2 alum Jenelle Evans, her husband David Eason, and her son Jace has been concluded.
Court documents from North Carolina reveal that the Columbus County Department of Social Services dismissed a juvenile petition concerning the 14-year-old, initially filed last October, on Feb. 13.
Jenelle Evans, who is also the mother to Kaiser, 9, and shares daughter Ensley, 7, with David, announced in a TikTok video on Feb. 15, “All allegations against me and my husband have been officially dropped. CPS took a voluntary dismissal and I wanted to be the first to let you guys know.”
In a statement to E! News, Jenelle expressed:
“We are currently focusing on Jace’s mental health, so I prefer not to disclose too many details about this case. We plan to share more comprehensive information when my son is in a more stable emotional state.”
The former reality star has experienced a complex relationship with her son over the years. Jace spent more than ten years living with Jenelle’s mother, Barbara Evans. However, in March 2023, Jenelle revealed that she had gained custody of the teenager, whom she shares with her ex, Andrew Lewis. Subsequently, during the summer, Jace ran away from Jenelle’s home in North Carolina on several occasions.
In mid-October, Jenelle took to TikTok to verify that her family was engaged in legal proceedings with CPS concerning her son’s mental health, asserting that she had “done everything as a parent and I have crossed my Ts and dotted my Is.”
Subsequently, David Eason faced child abuse charges, as reported by TMZ, which led Jenelle to issue a response.
Speaking to The Messenger, Jenelle disclosed that her husband received a criminal summons related to a September event where he “searched” Jace and took away certain items. Additionally, she mentioned that the teen had resumed living with her mother. “He is with her temporarily,” she explained, “and they are considering moving him elsewhere due to his past behavior.”
In October 2023, David was formally charged with child abuse in connection to an incident involving Jenelle’s 14-year-old son, Jace Evans. North Carolina authorities charged David after the teen ran away from the family home on three separate occasions between August and September 2023. Jace was hospitalized and underwent a mental evaluation after CPS intervened. He told police that he ran away from his mother and stepfather’s home because he had been assaulted by David.
Court documents stated — “[David] unlawfully and willingly did, being the parents of Jace V Evans, who was a child, less than 16 years of age, inflict physical injury on that child. The physical injury inflicted caused marks on [Jace’s] right arm, and left and right side of the neck, and was inflicted by other than accidental means.”
David spoke out via Facebook, declaring his innocence and denying that rumored Ring camera footage of the alleged assault existed.
“I know you’re probably still wearing your Covid mask and waiting for aliens to fall out the sky but I can promise you one thing, THERE IS NO RING CAMERA FOOTAGE!” Eason wrote in a Facebook post. “If there was it would just prove my innocence…”
