Lisa Hochstein Pleads with Court to Disqualify Lenny’s Divorce Attorney Due to Misconduct
Lisa Hochstein is demanding that her estranged husband, Lenny Hochstein’s lawyer be disqualified amid their bitter divorce war.
The Real Housewives of Miami star asked the court to order the plastic surgeon to find a new lawyer, claiming that Lorne E. Berkeley had possession of confidential material that presented a conflict of interest, per a Radar Online report.
Lenny filed for divorce in May, 2022, a decision that supposedly “blindsided” the reality star. The ex-couple shares two children together, Logan, 8, and 4-year-old Elle. The pair have been battling it out in court, ever since.
Lenny is currently engaged to model, Katharina Mazepa, and Lisa has moved on with businessman, Jody Glidden.
In December, 2023, the Miami-based surgeon filed a defamation lawsuit against his estranged wife, and later claimed that her allegations of domestic violence were part of a “calculated and deliberate plan” to “publicly humiliate” him. Last month, Lenny, 57, claimed in court documents that Lisa’s goal was to destroy his reputation and his businesses.
Lenny, who denied the abuse allegations, claimed that he had lost “hundreds of thousands of dollars,” since Lisa posted the accusations. He asked the court to sanction and place a gag order on the Bravo star, to shut down any further defamation and harassment.
Back in September, Lenny accused Lisa of “virtually emptying” the $10 million mansion they once shared.
“Wife not only removed furnishings such as beds, dressers, tables, and chairs, but also removed everyday household items including kitchenware, cookware, and utensils and even pillows, blankets and bedsheets and duvets and comforters, along with pictures, picture frames and even trash cans,” his lawyer claimed.
Lenny recently asked the court to set a trial date, to hash out a parenting plan and to determine the division of the home’s contents.
Lenny’s new attorney filed paperwork regarding the case around the same time, and Lisa demanded that Berkeley be disqualified from the proceedings.
She stated in a newly filed motion that there was a “distinct conflict of interest with Mr.Berkeley representing the Husband in the instant matter, given Mr. Berkeley’s history of having represented the Wife in past legal proceedings.”
Lisa added that she had asked Berkeley to withdraw from the case, but he refused.
Lisa’s lawyer said — “During the parties’ intact marriage of nearly thirteen (13) years, Mr. Berkeley represented the Husband and Wife – separately and together – in dozens of matters.”
He added — “In fact, Mr. Berkeley represented the Wife as both an agent and attorney on many occasions, including but not limited to: contract negotiations; acting as an agent for Wife’s business ventures; drafting the Wife’s Will; defending the Wife in lawsuits; representing the Wife at depositions; suing individuals on behalf of the Wife; and many other personal and business matters.”
Lisa noted that she was concerned that Berkeley would use “information relating to his past representation” during the trial.
Lenny has not filed a response to the motion.
