‘Below Deck’ Alum Captain Lee Rosbach Hosting True-Crime Series ‘Deadly Waters’
Captain Lee Rosbach is set to host a new Oxygen Network true crime series titled “Deadly Waters.”
The Below Deck alum will break down murder cases that occurred in open waters and on the high seas in the new series, per Deadline.
Captain Lee’s new gig comes after appearing on the Bravo yachting series for ten years. He stepped away from the show during Season 10 to manage ongoing health issues, and was temporarily replaced by “Below Deck Mediterranean” star, Captain Sandy Yawn. He returned to the St. David late in the season, which aired in 2022.
In February 2023, Us Weekly broke the news that “Below Deck Adventure” boss, Captain Kerry Titheradge, would be replacing Lee for Season 11. Bravo released the trailer for the upcoming season in November.
“I know I have big shoes to fill — but I like it that way,” Kerry said in the sneak peek, which premiered in November at BravoCon. “We all have good days full of rainbows and unicorns and then we have some bad days. I expect perfection. You work hard, you will be rewarded. You f–k around, and I will f–king turn in a heartbeat.”
In January 2023, Kerry revealed that he had received advice from Captain Lee during a golf outing.
“‘Be yourself. Be that same guy I was playing golf with,’” Kerry said he was told by the “Below Deck” star. “And then I asked him about social media and how to do that. I said, ‘I heard I should get someone to do it, so I don’t get caught up in it.’ He goes, ‘No, do your own social media. Don’t let anyone do that.’”
Kerry recalled — “The show hadn’t been out yet, but we got a chat and he’s like, ‘Man, you’re gonna do great. You’re gonna do really good. I can see it.’ He says, ‘You’re gonna do fantastic in this franchise.’ And then he chatted with my daughter. It was cool.”
Lee admitted that he hadn’t planned to leave “Below Deck” after his replacement was announced.
He told Us Weekly — “That came right out of left field. I did not see that one coming at all.”
“‘We would like to move in a new direction,’” Lee recalled being told by the network. “But I mean, that’s kind of a cliche that everybody uses when they find themselves in that situation where they’re going to let somebody go. ‘I’m going to move in a new direction. We want to freshen it up a little.’ [They are] tired cliches that get overused.”
Lee transitioned from navigating yachts and wrangling crews to watching various Bravo shows alongside former chief stewardess, Kate Chastain, on “Couch Talk With Captain Lee and Kate.” He also co-hosts podcast, “Salty With Captain Lee,” alongside Sam DeCavalcanti.
Lee hasn’t ruled out a Below Deck comeback despite his new endeavors, telling Us in May 2023 — “If they found that they needed me back on the show, I’d go back. I’ve done it for 10 years and I would kind of like to — if I’m going to make an exit — do it on different terms.”
