‘Married To Medicine’ Star Dr. Jackie BLASTED for Saying Black Women Can Be ‘Dramatic’ and ‘Cry Wolf’ During Pregnancy In Resurfaced Clip

Fans put Dr. Jackie Walters on blast after a resurfaced clip seemingly contradicted her exchange with Vice President Kamala Harris, featured during Sunday’s episode of Married to Medicine.

In a clip pulled from a past appearance on co-star, Heavenly Kimes’ YouTube show, Jackie shared about caring for black expectant mothers in her OBGYN practice. 

“Sometimes as African American women we’re a bit more dramatic…in that you go to the doctor and you complain and you complain and you complain and you’re not taken serious because you’ve cried wolf the entire pregnancy,” Jackie told her co-star in the resurfaced video. 

“As African American women we want to also make sure you’re being serious with your doctor and not playing the games so I can take you off work. Because then we see you 25 times in the pregnancy, it’s hard to believe that there’s a true problem when there’s a true problem,” she added.

VP Harris expressed concern over high maternal mortality rates among pregnant black women, during the highlighted video chat. She also put the word out that new moms are entitled to postpartum medicaid coverage as well as free mental health and emotional support. 

Jackie agreed to push out the message and encouraged more conversation about the topic. 

Fans reacted on social media after “The Neighborhood Talk” posted both clips on Instagram. 

One fan wrote on X — “Jackie should NOT be representing black physicians – GET SOMEBODY ELSE TO DO IT! That lady said we are dramatic about our pain and that’s why doctors don’t believe us. Shame on her + Justice for Buffie!” 

Another person tweeted — “Noooo Dr. Jackie?!! Wtf ?!! Why would you be concerned about ppl not wanting to go to work ?!? As if Job environments don’t contribute to illness everyday! EVERYTIME  a black woman says she’s in pain — BELIEVE HER.” 

A third added — “Dr. Jackie, Absolutely not. She is a doctor—she is to see her patient and believe her patient until the science says otherwise. You don’t make nasty generalizations like this, especially against Black women, who have historically been mistreated.”

One person noted — “It’s a HARSH reality & pill to swallow but from a medical standpoint, from working in the ER 5+ years direct patient contact with pregnant women as well – a lot NOT ALL, but a lot of patients IN GENERAL, Men, Women, of all races, have a tendency to dramatize their symptoms.” 

A viewer pointed out in the since-deleted post’s comment section — “you would think people with a platform would learn to hold their tongue especially when it could ruin their career, but i guess not lmao.”

A second said — “This is very dangerous to say as a black doctor considering black women have the highest mortality rate in child birth.”

Another fan asked — “This a doctor? I’m scared for y’all and y’all baby.”
