‘Basketball Wives’ Star Brittish Williams BEGS Judge for Prison Surrender DELAY to Celebrate Christmas with Daughter!
Former Basketball Wives star, Brittish Williams, is begging a judge to delay her prison surrender date to allow her to spend Christmas with her 5-year-old daughter.
The fallen reality star’s check-in date is December 11, according to court documents obtained by Radar Online.
In October, Brittish Williams was sentenced to 4 years behind bars on charges of tax fraud, bank fraud and insurance fraud. She was also ordered to pay $564,069.13 in restitution in addition to her four-year prison sentence.
U.S. District Judge Henry Autrey told Brittish Williams in his reprimand — “You knew what you were doing. You knew it was wrong and you did it anyway.”
The high profile case was investigated by the Internal Revenue Service, the Social Security Administration and the FBI.
The 33-year-old pled guilty to a total of 15 felonies, five counts of Social Security number misuse, four counts of bank fraud, three counts of wire fraud, and three counts of making false statements to the IRS. The former reality star will be on supervised release for five years after serving out her sentence.
Williams stated that she is the “sole caregiver for her five-year-old daughter” in her new motion. She asserted that she needed more time to help her daughter adjust to the “upcoming transition.” She explained that her child will be under the care of her mother during her prison stint, adding that she still needed to secure an acceptable home for her family.
Williams’ lawyer stated — “Ms. Williams and her mother have been working to find the necessary place. They believe that she will be able to move in by the end of December. A little more time is needed to get a suitable living space for them. They have been working on it. They will not need more than a 30-day extension to get all of these issues finalized.”
The former VH1 star added that her child “desperately” wanted to be with her mother over the Christmas holiday.
Her lawyer noted that it would “mean a great deal for them to have that time together.”
Williams asked that her new surrender date be set for January 11. The judge has yet to rule on the request.
Williams confessed to underreporting her income for the tax years 2017-2019 and to falsely claiming a niece and nephew as dependents, the Department of Justice reported. She also “fraudulently used Social Security numbers not assigned to her to open accounts with credit card companies and banks” and falsified financial information in nine submitted applications for Economic Injury Disaster Loans.
Last month, Williams’ lawyer filed an appeal for a higher court to review the sentence that was handed down in federal court on October 24.
The attorney stated that his client was requesting that the appellate court review whether or not the lower court judge used appropriate guidelines when making his decision.
