‘RHOP’ RECAP: Wendy Osefo Caught LYING Again in Voodoo-Gate Drama
Welcome back for a new episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac. The episode kicks off with Ashley Darby shopping while it’s pouring down and shortly Mia Thornton arrives to join her. Ashley decided to invite the girls to Austin due to hosting a drag show in the city in the past. Unfortunately, Robyn Dixon, Gizelle Bryant, and Mia Thornton don’t think it’s the right time to take a trip, whereas Karen Huger and Wendy Osefo have hopes for a decent experience. Gizelle arrives and immediately wants to know about their accommodations. Ashley ensures the ladies will be comfortable as Gizelle comments on wanting to play a drinking game, to get Karen “liquored up.”
Mia replies that Karen’s been on “gin and juice,” all weekend, as we get a flashback to Mia and Gizelle having an afternoon cocktail with Karen at her home. Gizelle mentions she’s on “crack and juice,” and producers give us flashbacks of Karen’s recent activities. Gizelle switches topics and focus on the accusations Nneka leveled against Wendy. Gizelle’s unsure if Nneka could be lying and Ashley agrees. Gizelle says, “I feel like it is a big accusation to say that a mother is praying against an entire family, if its not true.” In her confessional, Ashley reveals she believes Nneka because of how Nneka delivered the information and tells the ladies that she was shocked. Ashley mentions Nneka knew this information before coming to Ashley’s housewarming party. Gizelle’s surprised that Wendy didn’t mention knowing Nneka. Mia chimes in, as Ashley doubts Wendy would offer up that information.
Gizelle tells Mia and Ashley that Jamal Bryant confirmed “these types of evils,” in the world and warned Gizelle to stay away from it. Mia says Nneka’s smart, and Ashley confirms that she thinks there’s truth to what Nneka’s implying about Wendy and her mother. Since Nneka’s a lawyer, Gizelle doesn’t think Nneka would make something up like that before mocking Eddie and Iyke’s confrontation. Gizelle doesn’t believe Wendy’s not aware of her mother’s actions or that Eddie doesn’t know what Wendy’s doing. According to Gizelle they’re all working together for evil.
Next, we see Wendy and Eddie in a restaurant discussing the shrine drama. Wendy has convinced herself that Nneka’s soul motive is to attack her. Eddie claims he’s confused how things went downhill so fast, but Wendy’s sure there’s a motive since Nneka called her a bitch. Eddie claims he doesn’t have problems with anyone and tells Wendy he just figured out they attended the same college together. Since the ladies are going to Austin, Eddie wonders how Wendy will navigate the situation.
Later, Nneka and Iyke have a doctor’s appointment to address their fertility challenges. Nneka’s afraid the delayed conception could could trigger her family to speculate something is wrong. Iyke asks how Nneka feels after the blowout at pickle ball and admits the day’s event drained him. Nneka thought it was annoying. Upon reflection, Nneka thinks she should’ve met up with Wendy privately but makes it clear that shrines are real and are used for evil.
Dr. Moore enters and after having small talk with Iyke, he tells the couple that Iyke has low volume, but Dr. Moore isn’t worried about that at all. Iyke thinks the two need to have sex more often. Iyke doesn’t think anything is wrong, but Nneka’s been tracking her ovulation and is freaking out that nothings happening. Iyke compares his sperm to Michael Phelps. Dr. Moore encourages Nneka to continue taking her vitamins and continue trying for six months before further intervention is needed.
Next we see Mia and Gordon Thornton as they prepare for their marriage counseling session. After getting comfortable, the therapist ask Mia and Gordon what brings them in today and Mia doesn’t hold back that the core of their issues are their finances. A flashback shows a small argument between the two and Mia admits this lack of balance is causing problems in their marriage. Mia admits she retained a divorce attorney because she was going to file. Gordon’s blindsided and the reason for Mia’s decision is because she claims she doesn’t want the children to see them arguing, due to her past traumas.
Gordon wanted to get to a certain economic spot to make sure his family was comfortable, and Mia spills the beans about Gordon being voted out of his company. Gordon and Mia will file a lawsuit but another concern of Mia’s a lawyer who retained their money after a sale; but once the man never paid Gordon back, he allegedly killed himself. Now Mia really doesn’t know if her family’s going to be okay and Gordon’s in some real sh**! Mia feels betrayed in more ways than one, but Gordon admires the differences between the two. Gordon doesn’t want to retire, and Mia doesn’t agree with his decisions. The therapist encourage Mia and Gordon to reflect on how they want to protect their family moving forward.
Later we finally see what Robyn’s up to. Robyn’s chatting with her mother Glady’s on the phone as she packs for their trip to Austin. Ashley’s checking in with the nanny Daisy as she has them out at the park so Ashley can get ready. Gizelle’s asking Grace to be responsible for Angel and Adore as she warns against letting boys come over. The ladies arrive to the airport ready for their first girls trip as Wendy and Nneka continue to ignore each other. Once in Austin, Ashley separates the ladies by astrological signs. That means Wendy and Ashley can go anywhere and puts Fire and Earth in separate cars. Robyn’s upset to be in the van with Candiace Dillard-Bassett and Candiace admits it’s uncomfortable not being in a good place with Robyn.
Ashley compliments Karen on her outfit and Karen begins getting excited for her upcoming 60th birthday. Gizelle shades Karen for sweating the ladies a couple of days ago but Karen disagrees and thinks she showed up! Gizelle ask Karen if she loves Robyn but Karen’s not fake, so she says, “I like Robyn a lot, I want her to win.” Gizelle wants Karen to tell Robyn that but Karen refuses. To Karen, she tried to be cool with Robyn but now wants to put everything out on the table so the group can move on. Karen wants Robyn to just tell the truth and maybe the two can be friends like she and Gizelle. The ladies arrive at the hotel and with a beer in hand the ladies go check out their rooms. So far everyone’s happy as we get a sense of what Austin has to offer! With catered food the ladies grab a plate as they inquire about the rest of the rooms.
Ashley gives Robyn a penthouse room and due to Robyn’s stressful situation, Ashley offered to give her girl some grace. Karen thought she’d be on the same floor as Ashley and Gizelle wonders if Karen’s mood shift is because of Robyn. Instead of answering, Karen begins going into metaphors about pie and begins to explain cutting Robyn in half while putting one half in the freezer. Karen’s not over it and now the half in the freezer is now cut in half. Robyn’s on ice to Karen but Robyn smiles and says nothing like normal as Karen tells Robyn she’s lucky she put it in there. Ashley plans for the ladies to hit the pool and then dinner for the night but first the group splits to find their rooms. No complaints so far until the ladies open the window to an ugly construction zone.
Karen, Candiace, and Wendy are first to sit by the pool and Candiace checks in with Wendy and her issues with Nneka. Wendy says she’s fine and doesn’t feel the need to express herself further to Nneka. Ashley joins the ladies and soon the crew orders tequila shots to get the party started. Gizelle and Nneka join the ladies shortly after and the energy immediately shifts. Gizelle gives Ashley an update on her girls as we find out Mia’s on her way. Switching gears, Karen brings up the elephant in the room between Gizelle and Candiace. Karen feels like Gizelle’s on mute in Candiace’s presence and before we know it, Gizelle and Candiace are speaking up at the same time.
Candiace says she thinks Gizelle refuses to speak to her because Gizelle believes Candiace will, “disappear.” With joy, Candiace says “But my Black a** is still sitting here, so there’s that.” Gizelle disagrees and says she doesn’t talk to Candiace to protect her mental space and her children. Gizelle chooses not to participate in any capacity but Candiace doesn’t forget that it was her step-children and husband whose safety and reputation were in disarray because of Gizelle last year.
Gizelle says “the end” to that and in her confessional, Candiace continues taking up for herself and her husband. Gizelle continues to say that Chris made her go into a hotel room and close the door, and it doesn’t look like this beef is over anytime soon.
With the tension so thick, Karen admits she’s bothered by their situation, but Gizelle wants Karen to focus on what’s good. Mia and Robyn step out separately to have a talk before they head to the pool. Mia confides in Robyn and tells her about their lawyer who committed suicide, since Robyn can relate due to her past with scammers. Robyn’s visually upset as Mia begins to get emotional wondering what happened. Robyn reiterates what happened when Juan’s friend took all of their money and Mia feels guilty because of the family the lawyer left behind. The two bond over such a tragic event and Robyn reassures Mia that the truth would’ve came out eventually.
The two hug it out as the rest of the ladies order drinks by the pool. Karen didn’t like the plane ride, but Candiace and Wendy are side-eyeing from the corner. Karen brings up Gizelle being quiet at pickleball, and Gizelle reveals the accusations of witchcraft freaked her out. Candiace thinks the accusation is harsh and that it’s important to hear Wendy’s side of the story. Wendy responds with a question and Gizelle reminds Wendy that her mom spoke evil over Mia on social media. Wendy admits she did but refuses to admit her mom’s into witchcraft.
Mia and Robyn finally arrive and after realizing something’s wrong, Gizelle spills the tea. Gizelle brings up Wendy’s mom trashing Mia online and before she can go further Wendy pulls out the message and reads it verbatim. However, after she’s done, the ladies have more questions than answers and Mia thought Wendy’s mama was sending her to the pits of hell. The ladies are so confused as Wendy tries to clear things up by stating that Ivy and Lebe used to be friends and now that they’ve fallen out. Their drama is spilling onto the show. Nneka begins clapping and says “nice try,” as she tells the ladies what really happened.
Wendy insists that Nneka was well aware of her identity, prompting Gizelle to question the source of their animosity. Some of the ladies, including Nneka, suspect Wendy didn’t want Nneka on the show, with Ashley speculating that Wendy wanted being the sole Nigerian on the reality series. Nneka brings up a story shared by Lebe, questioning the length of a fifty-two-minute phone call if it was inconsequential. While Wendy attempts to clarify her position, Ashley starts probing further.
Throughout the back and forth, Wendy labels Nneka as a liar and denies any significant connection with Lebe, asserting that Lebe is merely her sister Ivy’s friend. As the conversation unfolds, Ashley focuses on unraveling the details of the situation.
Nneka confronts Wendy about inviting Lebe to her daughter’s Sip & See despite claiming they aren’t friends. While Wendy insists they’re not friends, a flashback shows Lebe at the event receiving a glowing introduction from Wendy. Gizelle remarks, “She was there?!?” — shedding light on the situation. Wendy’s caught off guard by Nneka’s bombshell receipt and is visibly embarrassed. She’s practically speechless, all Wendy could say is Nneka’s delusional.
Even Wendy’s close ally, Candiace, struggles to justify Wendy’s denials in a confessional interview. Nneka further questions Wendy’s motives for wanting her daughter to look up to someone she claims not to be friends with, creating a tense atmosphere. Tune in next week to The Real Housewives of Potomac to see the fallout from this revelation.
