Monique Samuels Files For Divorce From Chris Samuels After 10 Years of Marriage
Monique Samuels has filed for divorce from Chris Samuels, seeking to legally terminate their marriage.
Per the Montgomery County Family Court records Monique Samuels, 39, has officially filed for divorce from her former NFL player husband, Chris Samuels, 45. Although Monique has requested to seal the documents, the court docket reveals that she initially filed a complaint for absolute divorce on April 14. Subsequently, on June 15, she filed an amended complaint for absolute divorce.
People magazine was the first to report the news.
While the divorce of the former couple is still pending finalization, they have a hearing scheduled for Wednesday.
In October 2022, the outlet reported that Monique and Chris Samuels had decided to end their marriage after being together for 10 years.
The former couple, who tied the knot in 2012, are parents to three children — sons Christopher and Chase, and daughter Milani.
Since December 2022, they have not featured each other on their respective Instagram profiles. Neither Monique nor Chris posted anything to acknowledge their 11th wedding anniversary on March 3, nor did they make posts for Mother’s Day or Father’s Day.
Additionally, Chris has unfollowed Monique Samuels on Instagram, including her company, Not for Lazy Moms.
Marital challenges between Monique and Chris became evident during the first season of Love & Marriage: D.C., which aired earlier in 2022. The show shed light on the issues they were facing in their relationship.
“It’s no secret that Chris and I have been struggling in some areas of our marriage and anybody who watched Love & Marriage: D.C. last year, y’all saw the arguments, y’all saw everything that was going on,” The Real Housewives of Potomac alum said in a lengthy YouTube video as Chris was beside her.
“It was a lot of confusion, it was crazy building up to that 10-year marker of our marriage and when you’ve been married that long and when you have things that you’re like, ‘Listen, this is being unmet or I’ve been unheard’ you start to get frustrated and it’s like, ‘Oh, my God, is this what life is going to be? I can’t take it anymore,'” she continued. “So what y’all saw on Love & Marriage: DC last season, it was my cry for help.”
Despite acknowledging that they were both undergoing individual therapy to address their personal issues, Monique emphasized that they were not pursuing a divorce and had no intention of going their separate ways.
