Kylie Jenner is facing backlash after throwing her daughter, Stormi Webster, an Astroworld-themed birthday party following the tragic event that killed many people — including children. 

In November 2021, a fatal crowd crush occurred during the first night of the 2021 Astroworld Festival, a music event founded by Kylie Jenner‘s baby daddy and rapper, Travis Scott, that was held at NRG Park in Houston, Texas. Eight people died on the night of the concert, and two more died in the hospital over the following days.

Stormi Webster’s 5th birthday party was filled with colorful decorations and attractions inspired by the now-defunct theme park, including a custom-made Ferris wheel.

Kylie Jenner documented the festivities on her social media, sharing photos and videos with her followers. The reality star turned makeup mogul transformed her backyard into an amusement park, complete with games, food stalls, and a special performance by Grammy-winning artist Travis Scott, Stormi’s dad.

The guests, who included the Kardashian-Jenner family, friends, and celebrity guests, all appeared to have a great time, with many sharing photos and videos from the event on their own social media accounts.

Astroworld was a beloved theme park that was open from 1968 to 2005. It was a staple of Houston’s summer entertainment scene, offering thrill rides, games, and attractions for families and friends. The park was eventually closed due to declining attendance and rising maintenance costs, but its legacy lives on in the hearts of many Houstonians and fans of theme parks.

Kylie Jenner was dragged by fans for using the insensitive Astroworld theme for her daughter’s birthday party — celebrating the joyous moment when the park is marred by such tragedy.

One person wrote, “Of course # KylieJenner picked the most tasteless theme for her young daughter Stormi’s birthday party. A nod to Astroworld, where many lost their lives. These people are soulless , do you actually think they care about what they did? Clearly only for PR.”

Another critic stated, “They throw it in your face This is wild. Kylie Jenner appears to have modeled her child’s birthday party after the AstroWorld occult massacre.”

Someone else noted, “@ KylieJenner basically said “F*CK YOU!” to the families, friends & people that lost their loved ones at Astroworld. Using this theme for her son’s birthday is heartless and distasteful. Even though it was Travis’s concert, theming her son’s birthday from a tragedy is disgusting.”

Another commented, “I cannot believe such disdain for human life lost.”

“@ KylieJenner when are you gonna learn??? The theme for Stormis party is extremely poor taste considering Astroworld. Seriously, wtf. U don’t give a fuck that 10 ppl died.” A critic slammed the reality star.

Over on Reddit, many users slammed the mom of two as well — one person questioned: “The Astroworld themed birthday of Stormi and Aire is reason enough to cancel them. 10 people died because of the Astroworld festival, one of those people being a 9 year old little boy. Is this a joke ?”

Furthermore, the Kardashian/Jenners were criticized for their lack of response to the Astroworld tragedy back in 2021, with it even being discovered that they had fabricated a whole storyline for Season 1 just to avoid referencing the massacre.
