Gwendlyn Brown Slams TLC for Trying to ‘Exploit’ Her Sexuality on ‘Sister Wives’

Gwendlyn Brown has taken aim at TLC in the wake of the recently concluded, game-changing season of Sister Wives. The 21-year-old took to YouTube to reveal that she was asked to discuss her bisexuality on the show amid her mother, Christine Brown’s breakup from her father, Kody Brown. 

Gwen addressed the issue while recapping an episode that aired in October.

“I look so mad in the moment, and I wasn’t even upset. I was a little disappointed,” she recalled. “I thought we were going to talk about the divorce. And all of the sudden, they were like, ‘We’re going to talk about your sexuality, Gwendlyn.‘” 

Gwen added — “They were like, ‘Ooh, we have another queer. We’re going to exploit that. And make ourselves famous.’”

Gwen took a step back, clarifying that she was describing how she felt about the situation at the time.

“I’m sure it’s not, but it did feel weird,” she explained. “They also had me talk about my autism here, too. I was like, ‘that’s weird.’ I thought we were going to talk about my parents’ divorce.”

Gwen shared about her sexuality during the October episode. 

She said — “I’m bisexual. I’m not only attracted to women. I’m also attracted to men and people who fall into other gender spectrums.”

The episode also featured Christine sharing how she recognized Gwen’s sexuality after Meri Brown’s only child, Mariah, who has since transitioned to Leon, came out as gay.

“When [Leon] told us [they were] gay. Immediately I thought, ‘Oh, so is Gwendlyn.’ I knew immediately,” Christine said. “We’ve had just great conversations about it.”

Christine added that she and Gwen have had lighthearted conversations about her female celebrity crushes.

“She teases me about having celebrity crushes on women and I’m also partially gay. I’m not,” Christine said. “She loves teasing about it. My female celebrity crushes are Blake Lively, Kelly Clarkson, [and] Emily Blunt. They’re just beautiful. I can’t help but admire them.”

In December, Gwen announced that she was engaged to girlfriend, Beatriz Queiroz. 

“i’m engaged!!” Gwen captioned a series of snaps, on Instagram.

The first two photos featured the couple sitting next to each other and the other two pics revealed the moment Beatriz popped the question, as captured by an undercover photographer. 

Gwen shared a peek at her emerald-type stone engagement ring on her Instagram Story.

The duo celebrated six months together in September. Gwen shared, via Instagram, that Beatriz planned a romantic celebration that included “chocolate fondue and i lost my mind at her planning skillz (feat. our song).”
