‘RHOBH’ Star Kyle Richards Calls Lisa Rinna’s Exit a ‘Big Loss’
Kyle Richards weighed in on the departure of her Real Housewives of Beverly Hills co-star, Lisa Rinna, while hosting a “Cozy Comforts” event on Amazon Live Wednesday.
The 54-year-old admitted that Rinna’s exit was “a big loss for me personally” during the live stream.
“I will say [Lisa] was always very supportive of me in my personal life and my business life,” she shared. “Any time I was producing a show or in a movie, whatever it was, she was always extremely supportive, and we had a lot of fun.”
Kyle stated that she understood that fans have “strong feelings” about her alliance with Rinna, especially after Season 12 featured a rift between Rinna and her sister, Kathy Hilton.
“People would say, ‘Why didn’t you speak up and defend your sister?'” Kyle recalled. “I can’t always explain things, but sometimes being quiet may look like it’s the easy way out, but it’s actually the hardest thing to do.”
Kyle explained that she dealt with the dynamic by putting “two situations in separate boxes.” The reality TV veteran reiterated that she will “miss Rinna.”
On Tuesday, Kyle shared a throwback video that featured Rinna and their co-star, Dorit Kemsley, captured during a trip to Provence, France. Kyle explained why she felt compelled to share the footage.
“I felt the need to post something about Rinna, throwing back to good times, because, you know, we did have a lot of amazing times on the show over these years,” she shared.
Kyle continued—”Lisa brought a lot to the show on her eight years of being on, and regardless of what happened last year – people have very strong feelings about what happened last year – regardless of that, she brought a lot to the show. And we had a lot of great times, and that’s what I’m choosing to think about and remember, even though that also makes me sad.”
“It’s very strange to think that she’s gone, and I’m not someone who likes change,” she added.
Rinna’s bumpy final season featured a feud with Sutton Stracke, in addition to her blowout fight with Kathy. The former soap opera actress also had to cope with the death of her mother, Lois, during filming season. Rinna often stirred up controversy in real-time on social media and was regularly slammed by fans for her online antics and/or her dicey behavior on the show.
“This is the longest job I have held in my 35 year career and I am grateful to everyone at Bravo and all those involved in the series,” Rinna said, after announcing her departure. “It has been a fun eight-year run and I am excited for what is to come!”
“We’re just gonna see what happens, whatever God has in store for us,” she told E! News when asked about her future. “We never know. You never know.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is expected to begin production for Season 13 this month.
